Yes. The closet/waiting room/

"Giry" is taken directly from
The Phantom of the Opera, but in that story, the name belongs to a woman, one Madame Giry. Quite a few of the names in
Song of the Caverns come from
Phantom.
Gorman Truart (alias, Norman Druart). "Gorman" is legitimate, and comes from "Gorm", meaning "blue", but usually a surname, and I wonder if "Truart" has anything to do with any of the art-related companies called "TruArt", especially since the early pronunciation of the name was Troo-Art, though it looks like it may alos be a legitimate surname.
Albert Gore. Son of Bert? Gore is a triangular piece of land.

Actually to me it sounded like 'true-wart'. Metaphorically, a wart on the arse of society. :sly:
I'm probably wrong, but wasn't the ND/GT pronunciation mixup just attributable to Karras' speech impediment? :weird:

"Wart", heh heh. I pronounce "wart" as "wôrt", and I heard "ärt" in the TMA Demo briefing, and one of the TMA guard's lines, otherwise it's officially pronounced "Tru-urt".
The Norman Druart alias had nothing to do with Karras, but was Truart's lame attempt to hid his potentially scandalous association with Madame Volari:

"Dear Volari,
Prostitution in this city is a huge problem, and I plan on cleaning it up, so you should keep a low profile. I've taken the measures to protect you that we discussed. I live a demanding life now that I'm the most important person in town, and meeting with you is my only means of relaxation. I do not consider you equal to the rest of the scum that lurk the streets, so I am going to give you special treatment as long as you take care of me when I need you.

I never would have thought about that. Appropriate... :) Is Raoul also inspired by one of the characters of that opera ? :laff:
jtr7 on 11/1/2009 at 01:00
Loosely. In Phantom, Raoul is Christine's childhood friend, and eventually follows Erik (the Phantom), who has abducted Christine, down into the caverns beneath the opera house.

When I first played TMA, I heard "Jennifer" instead of "Jennivere". :p
