That's just bizzare! It's like a giant snake wrapping itself around the building!
The screenies are awesome, thanks for sharing! :D :thumb:

Emerald Wolf,
Most excellent crate stacking.:thumb: I'd like to know how you did that. I saw a write up once, but I think I have lost it. I never could master that method. Looks like you have it down to a science.
Sluggs,
I enjoyed this mission a lot! Funny and creative stuff there.:cheeky:
Those crates did not stack in what, until now, I thought was the conventional way: look down and drop / jump. When looking down and dropping they end up on top of my head. I suppose that was intended.... Anyway, I threw 100 or so into a big pile and climbed the mountain. Good enough.
I managed to jump from the ladder onto the "HOTEL" sign and cross the letters to sit on the base of the L. I was expecting an easter egg over there, too, but no...

That would probably be Luthien's "Floating Staircase of Crates" guide:
(

Which is how he got to the top of the lighthouse in Precious Cargo ((

Of course that method is far more difficult and time-consuming since you constantly have to climb up and down the staircase. In this mission however, since all your crates are in the inventory it gives you a greater margin of error when building the staircase because you only need to climb it once (I crate-dived down to take the screenshots... the staircase wouldn't hold together on a second asscent :tsktsk:).
Usually If I want to get up somwhere supposedly inaccesable I'll Elevator up... but Mr. Sluggs didn't give us any flares (or food)... and then he has to go and put a hole in the hotel thinking no-one will be curious :p :joke:

Well thanks to Luthien's crate stacking tutorial I finally managed to get the
easter egg
with more than 1 splodge on my life line left.
I would like to recommend some magic crates to all fm authors. They make life so much easier. :D

I'm currently enjoying Murder in Featherstone very much which I haven't played before - well I'm stuck at the moment but will be returning shortly and hope I do a bit better, but its tricky.

Oh dear, that's worse than these! :joke:

That's a better attempt than mine, R Soul. Even though I put these crate-stacking possibilities into the FM, I'm pretty useless at it myself! I managed to get atop the GhostTrain roof, but that was about it. :o
I think I'll have a go at this crate sky-diving lark sometime soon, and try to get onto the top of the big wheel!

OK, I finally figured out the staircase. First, I found a more interesting link to instructions: (
http://users.ncable.net.au/~abirch/Thief/Azals/tutorial_staircasing.htm) Luthian's guide to the strange and unusual. There are many other interesting links on this site, which is hosted by Azal.
Next, the method I used is a slight variation from the instructions. The instructions say, "Step up to the staircase and look in the right direction. Use the key to center the view. [that is the 'End' key for me]" This does not work for me - the crate falls too close. I had to use the End key to center the view and then elevate the angle a few degrees by trial and error.
Here are my results for finding the secret: (
http://home.comcast.net/~smithpd1/thief/stairs.jpg) SPOILER. The staircase stack on the right is for going up. The vertical stack on the left is what I used to go down without destroying the stairs.

With the 3000 crates in the mission, I used them to get down from the highest locations. That's how I got off the high elevator including getting the Keeper off the Ferris Wheel and easter egg. I noticed that depending on how fast I threw the crates under myself dictated the speed at which I fell and how far in any direct I could go.
Not sure if anyone has tried this, so I made a quick video showing the concept. The video is sped up because I threw crates so fast that I just drifted slowly.

EDIT:
In case someone wants to see the normal speed videos.
Elevator and Keeper rescue:

Easter Egg Video:
I climbed to the top of that ladder/rail thing and surfed the crates down. There is too much on screen so the crates don't show up until I get closer to landing. You can notice slight speed changes depending on how fast the crates are thrown. If you wait too long, Garrett sustains some damage.
