I think I need some help here. I pulled out the blue crystal and tossed it in the lava, was that a bad thing? It seems I need something else to put on that plate, but I have no idea what.
I'm not sure if the above are really spoilers or not, but better safe then sorry. :p

Did you go in Garivaldi's room?
If not:
Back to the Temple and go in the priest room, wich is open now. You'll find the key of Garivaldi's room here.

Now to go back in and find all the secrets I missed, which turns out to be quite a few.

How do I get into the tunnels?
Have Emilie's key. The only doors still locked are tunnels, Garivaldi and 2nd Priest room.

Yes I have. I have the Mirror room key and at one stage did go there but went back to an earlier save because it seemed there were still things to do before touching the mirror. Should I have stayed in Black Frog world?

Yes. You won't get into the tunnels, Garivaldi's or the 2nd priest's room until you go to and return from the Black Frog world.
