he, I like your work. next time do it with pencils and scan it, that would be much more ace and have that personal note :)
concerning maxuel panyo: I'm sure they will create a hard-hitting, realistic and still balanced depiction of the favellas and the underground like e.g. the CityofMen series did. This game will be GameOfTheYear and the turning point for South America in a whole. History in the making.
Either that, or it'll be a shovelware shooter.

Maybe. Keep in mind Call of Pripyat is coming this year. It's shaping up to be the second coming of SoC.

what ? no stabs at my stupid comment ?
....turning point for south america.....comparing to CityOfMen......
nobody could take that serious, right now the whole concept sounds ridiculous and if they really use this real-world setting it will be even much more laughable and tasteless concerning the problems ppl in favellas face in RL. I was only 1 month in Rio and you can't find a more hot debated and polarizing subject than brazilien underground, gangs and its connections to favellas. The stereotyping and "fear of the favella" as "birthplace of crime and violence" is far reaching in society and all above aspects would make a formidable political thriller.....but a maxpayne3 game....? naaaaaaaaa
My friend lives over there and while she loves the country the constant fight between military, gangs and the ppl caught inbetween, the propaganda in televison is almost unbearable for us "sensitive" european newbies.
this is no liberal "you are not allowed to depict favella drug wars" in Videogames rant, it's more my concern that the setting (which I actually find very good) demands much more from the story if you don't want it to become a boring stereotyped AngryMilitia/DrugMen in need of a RespawnRemoval (aka FarCry3).
And my last question (the image that stuck to my head the most while in Rio):
Will it have little kids with grenades on their belt sniffing glue for....
comic relief, as an enemy or heartbreaking commentary ?
Because I'd love to see all the human despair, chaos and injustice piled up in Rio and SaoPaolo find an outlet in a videogame.
new franchise plz

If that is the truth about the setting then this has the potential to be awesome.

Coming from you it did sound uncharacteristically optimistic, I'll give you that.

I'm just letting my imagination go wild, maybe it will be the setting

What the fuck mothra I just woke up and am having trouble wrapping my brain around you being positive.
Angel Dust on 25/6/2009 at 00:33
I actually think mothra is often more positive than the norm around here during the pre-release phase, I remember him being quite excited about Far Cry 2 and Assassin's Creed, and it's not until the game comes and inevitably doesn't live up to the hype that his opinion changes. In the cases of Far Cry 2 and Assassin's Creed I think the reaction is quite justified. His rants in COD threads are a bit looney though but for what it's worth mothra: I knew you where joking.:thumb:
On topic: I'm still on the fence about this one. I'm not much a Max Payne fan so any changes in setting/look etc won't bother me too much, I like his new look, but the the game itself doesn't look too interesting so far.
june gloom on 25/6/2009 at 00:38
It's not just CoD though, he says some stupid bullshit about a lot of games, not just the shitty ones.
