looks amazzoonng. Shame Rockstar are behind it, they'll probably fuck it up somehow :/

Yeah it's a shame it's being developed by THE GREATEST DEVELOPER IN THE WORLD
I was gonna ask what you have against R* but then I remembered OH YEAH one of their games had a PC port that was buggy at launch. Good reason to write off everything else they've ever done.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: I don't know if you can see it but I'm rolling my eyes over here VERNON.
PS. YOUR NUTS
Vernon on 18/11/2011 at 10:11
Man you're obsessed with my nuts. Look, I have no real problem with Rockstar - their games have always been somewhat playable on the PC. It's just they aren't PC games. I'm not saying they make bad ports, they just make console games that are ported to PC. There's no consideration in their development for the PC platform. imho. Shit, if you have the manpower to come up with 3000 different character animations, surely you can add something in for PC other than just porting. Anyway as I said it looks great, I'll play it, but like with every other rockstar game I own, I'll probably be wistfully groaning at the fact that it was designed for a controller and the interface sucks. Love to be proved wrong, since I have enjoyed almost all of their game content up to this point

Man for GTA3,VC & SA they totally changed the aiming system from the console's lock-on system to mouselook, re-coded the engine so it used DirectX 9.0c functions* AND added a function that lets you play YOUR OWN MP3s! Those were some lovingly coded ports man.
RECOGNIZE!
*I'm no coding-expert I'm just basing this on what I read in an issue of PC Format ages ago and they made it sound like a big deal.

That video looks very fluid. Love the animations. This is the first thing that has looked really optimistic about this game. Also the multitude of locations and different Max's somehow give me a feeling the story might actually be ok! Tbh, I think the collision detection etc. is quite a big deal and goes well beyond just eyecandy. I do remember how in the first two games you would float against a wall in bullet time and such. This new improved stuff seems you might even use it to your advantage in some ways.

That looks crazy good, plus I like how it's not all in the favella or whatever. Clearly there's a time-split storyline with flashbacks or whatever going on. That's pretty sweet.

Animation done right! Dynamic blending and reactions all grounded in a physics engine. It makes me <em>very</em> happy to see this kind of thing. IMHO, improvements in character animation are (usually) about the most important thing a developer can possibly do to make a game look good, and yet for so many years people just focussed on texture resolution and other things (which were admittedly <em>easier</em> problems to solve, but really not as important).
I think if animation quality was easier to portray in marketing screenshots, it might have gotten more of a focus from more people.
Are very many people using Euphoria (and/or related systems) ?
I remember reading about it around the time of the "Force Unleashed" Star Wars game (and being similarly delighted that people were finally putting the kind of effort into game animation systems that they so desperately needed), and I think Rockstar used it in GTA4 too; but I wasn't too interested in either of those games, so I've never seen it first-hand.
It sounds like Rage has pretty spectacular animation as well, but that might be completely custom work from Id?

Looks amazing. THe only fear I have is that it will be too short like MP2...:(
Muzman on 19/11/2011 at 06:38
They let just enough clipping slip into a promotional video to make me think it'll be all over the place. Pity. Maybe they'll clean it up.
I like the idea of people reeling from explosions and flying glass though, including your character.

Just one, eh? Bully Scholarship Edition for PC was an even bigger disaster than GTA4 PC until it was patched, several fucking months after the fact. It barely even worked for a lot of people. We're talked about a tarted up PS2 port too. (Bully Scholarship for 360 was broken trash as well).

You do realise that there are several Rockstar development studios, right? Not just R* North. I.e. Rockstar New England are a dreadful developer with a long track record for making both shit games and shit ports.
