Your plan is much more complex than mine. When zombies attack my neighborhood I will:
1) Throw my cat at them to create a distraction while I run for the shotgun, ammo, and several days worth of power bars. He's a 20 pound monster and will rip them apart for a while until he can run away, plus he'll be perfectly safe because he doesn't have any brains.
2) Jump out the back window, which is sort of an "exit only" affair because the sill is about 8 feet off of the ground. Any slower members of my family will be volunteered to "take one for the team" while I get away.
3) Hole up in the loft of the neighbor's barn (only reachable by a ladder which can easily be pulled up). She's old & slow, so it won't be occupied.
4)Supplement my power bar supply by killing & eating barn swallows and family members if need be.

It depends on what kind of zombies you're talking about here, classic slow-as-all-hell zombies, 28 Days Later zombies, or Left 4 Dead (modified 28 Days Later)? I got a plan for all three:
Slow As All Hell: Considering their very slow gait, I can easily escape them, break line of sight, hotwire the nearest car, and head down the highway into town. Once in town, find nearest sports/hunting/pawn shop and stock up on happy guns and ammo. After that, I'll set up in a hospital which will have plenty of food, water, and medical supplies; along with many easily defensible positions.
28 Days Later: Considering their speed, I would probably, after gathering supplies, set my house and the immediate area on fire as a distraction/preliminary attack and drive the hell outta there. Repeat last two steps from "Slow As All Hell," and setup camp for a while.
Left 4 Dead: Considering their 4 year-old mentality, I'd setup the computers in my house to blare heavy metal to draw them away from me while I make my escape. While at the hospital (after gathering plenty of guns and other niceities), I'd grab an ambulance and speed to the nearest military base; which is in state, so is rather convenient. After I reach them, I'd beg to get in and offer my guns to help push back the undead horde.
