Im not sure how to break this to you, but game designers have been "borrowing" from outside sources since day number one. Again, to do it in a movie is one medium. To do it in a video game is the medium we are discussing. Furthermore, the 209 had no human "face" transplanted.

???? What are you meaning??? Thid Ed-409 doesn't exist.

Neither do Karras' bots.

um mass? The ed-409 was halfway down the page on the link you posted.... you *did* look at the page you linked to, right?

ED-
209, not ED-409:
Enforcement Droid 209.
And yes, the Children Of Karras could have had some influence, but it's all another universe. I suggest you to watch the intro of Thief 2:

There's nothing more beautiful than this intro.
He poured his Children's eyes from glass
And from steel wrought Their hands
That none could escape his judgement.Karras saw properly the arrogance and the viciousness of the mankind, thus he wanted to erase it. Nothing more exact. And anyway I think it's the future, even in a different way: sooner or later the machines will take over, and they will be superior in power than any other vital life, a bit like the Judgment Day of Terminator. This will happen not only when the machines will take "conscience" but when they will be able to create/repair themselves by their own. That's my point of view. And that's why I like the Mechanists: the mankind has done too much wicked things, thus deserves such destiny.

Two different mediums... Games have been "borrowing" from different mediums since day one... MM original "instigator" in the cg medium...
over and over and over again...
Look, you guys obviously have your own little thing going here (much of which I simply cannot understand). Therefore, I shall now take my leave of this thread as I am more than satisfied with my input. I usually don't like getting involved in these types of situations. I'm just not fond of all the circles you inevitably must run around in just to get your points across.

Even without knowing all the sources that were paid heavy homage to, it should be well-known by the regulars that the Thief games contain more borrowed concepts than original. It's the unique and masterful mix that makes the sum total unique.
GD, you didn't offend me, just annoyed me with your repeat of withholding of geeky educational historical information. No one else even bothers to share it--those who were there as it unfolded--and you only tease with it, and expect too much from us who discovered Thief after history was made. I'm interested in the info, but will not have the means to discover it all myself, or I would share it. :)

I knew that, btw. But from my research, before PS:T modrons looked less mechanical and more cubist.
