I loved this mission! I play tomb raider also so this was a treat. I got both of the best in one mission. THere was even the really nice music when I got to the loot area. However I am short 65 on loot and am playing on expert level. I probubly missed some loot in the earlier areas that I can not get back to. Just like in tomb raider. I always miss something crucial in an earlier level and have to go back and play from an earlier save. Thanks for making that one Gumdrop. Great job!

As Master Garett, I need help also.
I don't know whether I'm a bad swimmer or I'm short of breath, but I can't seem to swim to the second switch on the wall, under water. If I get to this point, I'm already dead.
Did I miss a breath potion somewhere?
Please Gumdrop, help!

You just need to swim very efficiently, with no wasted movements, when possible. And most importantly, find the breathing space and use it! It's what makes traversing the water puzzle possible.

Where is that breathing space?
I can't seem to find it. When I swim on to the second switch I see a space on my right, but then I'm dead already.
So I figured it had to be before that point ............. only I can't find it.
I looked up for it everywhere, but I only get to see bricks.
Please, help again wanted?
Gloria Creep.

Gloria:
Once you’re through the open gate, follow the passageway straight ahead to a switch on a panel, then turn around and take the first turn to the left (E). At the end of the passageway, swim up to get to the air pocket. It's right at the end of the hallway before you turn to corner to the second switch.
I am seeing alot of talk about this mission here. Is this a mission for Thief II? I am confused because I am seeing talk about cistern, and then about calendras cistern, and it sounds like calendras cistern is a thief I mission and that the other one is a thief II mission, but i am just not sure! Hehe any help appreciated~!

It's easy to get info about missions. Go here: (
http://thief.math.uh.edu/missions)
Then type "cistern" into the search box and you'll see that Calendra's Cistern is a Thief 1 mission while "The Cistern" is a recent Thief 2 mission. Readme files and other info are there at the click of a button.

Hi Nightwalker,
Thanks for coming to my rescue once again.
I'm just confused:
You say: When you're through the open gate ........... Do you main the gate where you must have a key for?
I couldn't open that one with my pickpockets, and also couldn't find a key for it, so I walked on to the hole in the floor where you can dive in and follow some corridors to find a switch to open a gate a.s.o.
Are we talking about the same problem here?
Thanks already and many greetings,
Gloria Creep.
:o

Thank you Epithumia. It sounds like there are The Cistern and Calendras Cistern, and both sound like they are pretty good. Looks like I am gonna have to load Thief I again to play some of those missions lol. Thanks again :)

I agree that this is a very cool mission, but I'm missing one of the secrets. I found the one
at the tomb area.
Where is the other one?
@ gloria creep
You are talking about the same problem. You have open the gate with the switch and swim along the corridors until you see a panel with a lever. You can immediately turn right and swim to the end of the corridor with the air pocket.
