Still working on a clean ghost, but I'm a little short of the max loot. I have 2662 out of 3049, I think, so I'm still missing 387. I've already gotten....
Warning! List of some of the places where loot is found follows!
* The loot from the safe;
* The loot from the altar "painting;"
* All the loot I could find in the Dark Engine area (including the crystals from up top of one of the catwalk towers, the one with the mine -- and by the way, I don't think there is any way to disarm that mine without alerting the guard in the lightfield... fortunately, you can reach right to get the loot without climbing up there and setting off the mine;
* The loot in the area where you find the blackjack (through the gallery);
* The loot (and sword) in the crypt;
* The loot in both halves of the cemetery;
* The loot in the office with the two keys;
* The loot in the two barracks rooms;
* The loot (was there any? I forget) in the telescope room... except there seems to be a panel behind some barrels, but I don't know how to open it;
* The loot at the top of the belltower;
Probably one or two other places I forgot to mention. Where would I find the last 387 worth of loot? There must be some big caches I completely missed... that's a lot of loot I'm missing.
Thanks, and thanks to the Dark Gentleman for a surprisingly good FM: it was a lot more challenging than I expected, and although I think the AI were tweaked too sensitive, there was no part that was undoable. One part required chemical help to ghost, but only one -- well, so far, at least!
I did come up with a nifty way to kill Seudocience (pseudoscience?) without alerting any of the other AI: I blackjacked him, hauled the body around to the ladder up to the machine nearest the room entrance, where there was a pool of water with a skeleton in it, and dumped him in... glub glub! And grabbing the loot in that room was also a challenge, requiring a long and frustrating nudging operation on the central guard there.
One problem: In that same room, I tried nudging the guard on the platform where you enter the room; my aim was to nudge him right off the end of the platform down onto the floor, so that I could use the ladder he guarded. But every time I got him near enough the edge of the platform -- either at the corner or straight off the end -- the game would abruptly crash to the desktop. This happened about a dozen times before I finally gave up. Anybody know what's up with that?
Anyway, thanks to anyone who can give me some more loot tips.
There are 25 crystals in the altar window/painting - the last few are hard to see, and it's tricky getting them out. Have you found the purse on top of the boxes outside the safe?
Dafydd on 20/2/2005 at 08:15
Thanks, ffox. Yes, I found the purse atop the boxes; and I think I did get all the crystals... I crouched and moved back and forth and stared real hard. But I can go back and check again!

Because you are short 387 you must be missing something worth 12. There are 2 of these:
On the table in the little guardpost in the ouside wall (near the start).
In a chest in the first bunkroom.
On the table in the little guardpost in the ouside wall (near the start).
I still can't believe I was able to ghost that! Thanks, ffox; I hadn't been in there.
I doused the torches in front of the church, the torch in the entryway, and the two closest torches outside the wall. Then I waited until the guard who patrols in and out of the grounds was headed in, and I crept forward into the doorway into the guard shack. I was sure that stupid patroller would run right up my backside, but I got in there just before he passed. But the guard in the shack was directly athwart the doorway into the guard shack itself.
I inched forward, expecting him to start swinging his hammer any second... but it was so dark, and I was moving so slowly, that he didn't see me, even when I was actually pressed against his front. I don't think I've ever been that invisible before without a potion :eek: !
He backed away from me, and I kept moving into him until he was far enough back that I could slide very slowly to the right... far enough that I could grab the coins on the table, the invisibility potion, and one of the two coin stacks. But I eventually had to get around behind him to get the second coin stack (I left him the playing cards... perhaps he can win the money back before the sergeant comes checking up on him). Then I reversed the procedure, trying not to move until he was turned slightly away from me. Somehow, I found myself past him; then it was just a wait until the patroller passed by, and I was back inside the wall again, undetected. Pretty wild gameplay!
All right, excellent; now I'm up to 2699 out of 3049, so I'm short by exactly 350. What's the next loot suggestion? I'm starting really to want that Perfect Thief....

great mission! Thank you Dark Gentleman, I had so much fun playing it! Especially luring those zombies out of the cementary and watching them battle the hammers was very satisfying. It was actually the first time I was kind of sad when all the zombies were gone
Now I'm really looking forward to your next mission.
