1) Be careful with those intros, man
3) Production could be tweaked, you need a lot more high-end and compression to avoid the Basement Sound (assuming you want to avoid the Basement Sound)
4) Black Sabbath meets generic prog meets very VERY not-generic modern attack on prog rock
SUMMARY: None of this is bad. My comments only exists as intuition and first-draft noise. This is very sweet sound, bonhomme. I think you are right to be proud upon it! I particularly like On Lookout and Plagueships -- so far they are the stickiest. Rhythm section gets a bit slop here and there, but that goes well with the lo-fi feel of (again this is a GOOD comment) the overall Marilion vs Iron Maiden idea. Composition is solid, which is what makes me geek out hardest, Plagueships especially. *watch the reverb on the vox omg
All told so far after two listens: Fucking good, man. I think it evokes in me what you want it to evoke in me, and the authenticity is evident. Just a bit more sizzle and less mud would hit it in the best way!
Big thumb! Thank you for showing this to me!

Very very not generic indeed. It's a unique sound. Being that unique it's going to take me a few listens to decide if I like it or like it a lot.
Meanwhile here is my buddy Dave on the drums in some Nashville dive with a band he never met before that night and can't recall the name of. Damn Dave drums for everybody. I kind of like the Grace Slick sound of the singer but they should have turned her mike up some.

Used to work with him and one day he asked my advice on going to Nashville. He was going anyway I figure but I told him with the guaranteed dough he was going to make he would be a fool not to. This is just a side gig. He works for some country guy I forget the name of but loves rock and does this on the side. No relation to the other Dave Matthews.

Thanks for listening, guys! Means a lot!
Yeah, there were quite a few issues we ran into in recording this one. Definitely share a lot of your feelings, but overall I suppose I'm happy with it. Will probably make some changes for the next album.
@Tocky- For some reason I get an error that the content isn't available to me when trying to view it.

Well dang. I had to link it through facebook so who knows? It works for me. Anybody else get the error message? A shame. Dave's a hell of a drummer.

"Music & Talent" weekend in Vasa, my town. I saw some good shows tonight, but a Swedish band, Partiet, took the cake.
TOOK THE CAKE
is that a saying?
look, I've had a few
here's a video

Henke, you'd love the Ska band I'm seeing on Saturday, Bombskare. Scottish, sarcastic, miserable and insanely cheerful, 9 old fat middle aged guys bouncing off the stage.

Partiet are great, but sometimes a bit too knit-your-own-sandals for me, I like some of their songs. I think "this takes the cake" is more of an American saying, but I could be wrong. The Swedish phrase would translate to "this wins the prize", which is a useless phrase if there is an actual prize to be won.

Last night, I went out with my stepson and his girlfriend. It was a (
https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Glasgow/Barrowland-Ballroom/Musicians-Against-Homelessness-Glasgow/13176538/) charity gig for the homeless. On the bill was several bands I never heard of, but all of them turned out to be quite good. (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlgIpN9YXlU) One did an unexpected cover of Underworld's Born Slippy (old video, not from last night), a song that meant quite a lot to me and my wife, for stupid reasons, and I was filled with very stong and mixed emotions. She would have loved to see this.
Most other bands were quite good. The level of quality was quite high. One band that stood out was a Public Enemy-esque angry shouty hiphop band wearing skimasks and camouflage gear.
Most of the evening I was tapping my feet or bobbing my head. The bands were good, but I was waiting. Waiting. And then they came on.
BOMBSKARE!Now, I'm an old fat middle aged guy, and I don't dance a lot. Ever. But, when I hear Bombskare, I kind of have to. It starts in my feet, goes up my knees, to my head, and then I just HAVE TO JUMP AROUND LIKE A FREAKING IDIOT because I can't stop myself. That's how brilliant they are live. Nine old fat guys on stage jumping around like they're nine years old and on a sugar rush. Absolutely brilliantly amazing.
(
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEMeUoJkDKY) This video is a couple of years old and does not do justice to how awesome the gig was last night. I've seen them live four times now, and this was by far the best show yet. The whole bloody Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom was dancing.
Go see them if you can, or at least buy all their albums. Go go go! Do it now! Thank me later.
[Edit]
I should probably clarify for the uninitiated that I mainly listen to loud angry shouty industrial, but my tastes span from slow jazz to noisy techno. I am by no means an expert on Ska music, but I've heard a fair share, seen a few ska bands live, and in my experience, Bombskare is the best band so far. By a long way. By a factor of ten.

BOMBSKARE!This reminds me of one of my few concert experiences - seeing the Bosstones near Albany when I visited there around 2000. I remember one of the band had the job of just bouncing up and down the stage like a maniac, getting increasingly sweaty.
I'd like to enjoy concerts but the sound levels are so unpleasant for me I can't. I'd like to be brave enough to try again taking some earplugs.
With the above outdoor venue it was probably easier - but a venue with bad acoustics ruins it for me.
