The Dark Mod: Need Alpha testers with ATI cards. - by New Horizon

Hey folks, we need some help fixing a problem that only seems to crop up on ATI cards.
We are testing a fix for a bug in Doom 3 ambient lighting. Instead of evenly lit surfaces, doom 3 ambient did this.
Doom 3 ambient.

Any ATI users who were able to play the Alpha, please consider playing the alpha again and taking a screen shot using this new file.
Download and unzip the file. Then drop the glprogs folder into your thiefs_den directory. That's it. When you fire up the level, it should work as before...but if you get any abnormalities, please post a screen shot, the specs of your card and the driver version you're using...including whether it is from the manufacturer, the ATI driver site, or the Omega drivers.

Hi NH
Just tested this on my ATI X800 GTO2 and i can confirm that it does fix the normal maps with ambient lighting but also causes any dynamic lights to become hugely oversaturated.
Thiefs Den worked with the same drivers with the normal map fix.
Hope that helps, give me a shout if you need more detail.
Cheers.

A screen shot would be awesome. We need to see if the results are consistent. How hugely oversaturated?

Hello everybody, I'm a lurker on these forums and the Dark Mod forums, but I couldn't resist registering to do whatever I could to help the Dark Mod along - It's the best mod I've ever seen.
Anyways, I have an ATI Radeon X800GT graphics card adapter, so I figured I would download this patch and take screenshots. I have no idea what you're looking for, but I took several, so hopefully one of them depicts what you need.
Here's what the Dark Mod looked like before I installed the patch: (just copy link location+paste into the browser and remove the ".th" at the end of the link to see the full version - The full size images were stretching tables.)

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6830/shot00001uo1.th.pngThis is the start of the mission. Everything looks good in the clean install for me. These screenshots are unnaturally dark for some reason, it doesn't look that dark ingame though.

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/5237/shot00002hm1.th.pngThis is kind of hard to see, but I'm crouching behind the wheelbarrow next to the garage-door-thing in this screenshot. Again, it's not that dark ingame.

http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/1552/shot00003am5.th.pngThis is the metal grating on the wall when the guy with the torch is standing on the other side of it. It was the brightest screenshot I could find.
After I applied the fix, this happened:(I didn't change the gamma or anything, I only downloaded that file and replaced it.)
Inline Image:
http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/1880/shot00005zm4.th.pngThis is a picture of the crack underneath the door behind the area where you start. That amount of light was obscenely bright on my computer - even lighter than these screenshots.
Inline Image:
http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/4569/shot00007uz9.th.pngI tried to get into that wheelbarrow position from above for comparison, but the little corner was fully lit and the guard saw me. I had to gas him and run away, alerting the other guards.
Inline Image:
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/4264/shot00008ce6.th.pngThis is a picture of the light coming from the torch guy on the other side of the grating again. Most noticable is the fact that his torch light doesn't go around the bars and shine on the floor anymore, and the fact that the light burned my eyes ingame because it was so bright.
I'm not sure what you were trying to fix, but I think you accidentally broke the lights in the process - it made the map extremely hard to ghost when every area was either full light or full darkness. I hope I got some pictures you can use, though.
If I can get any other screenshots from the patched version, let me know. Otherwise, I think I'll reinstall the original, if that's OK.

Cool! Here's the part you missed that will help them out:

That's what the last three pictures are. The first three are "before" screenshots. I tried to take several in the same locations "before" and "after" to compare them with. It just didn't work out so well because I got chased away by a guard.
EDIT: Edited previous post for clarity. I guess it wasn't obvious that I was trying to compare the mod before the new file was installed and after?

What is the driver version (windows default drivers, your card manufacturers drivers, ATI site drivers or Omega drivers).
