I lost my Doom 3 box, so i can't install right now until i get me a new copy (which is kind of hard where i live, i only see expansion on sale everywhere). Don't bother with Steam.... as usual they are trying to rip the customer off while offering shit customer service. $20 is a complete and utter rip off when you can buy a retail copy for $5...!!!!!

Not to mention that since he is in europe, it's probably 20 euros instead of 20 dollars.

So you bought the game and now are going to go out of your way to buy it again? If only there were some other way

There is! You and about ten of your friends could spend the next year or two taking out and replacing all the stock doom3 assets. And better make em good too!
:ebil:
The thing about about steam though is you can then download it on any computer you happen to be playing on and no longer need to worry about your media as long as you dont lose your steam account :)

You say that like it's a good thing. It's a horrible thing.

I find Steam discussions funny.
Why is it bad that I can go somewhere else and DL a game I own and want to play. Went on vacation to my sisters house and loaded up portal for her to play. Didn't have to take CD's with me... Didn't have to put in codes, etc...
Pretty nice IMO.
And customer service.. well, when you buy a cd of a game what 'customer service' do you get? The option to go to a web site and search forums for answers/patches?
Steam patches automatically.
Also has links stright to forums.
I've had no issues with ANY game I dl'ed from Steam.
Rip-offs? You don't have to pay their prices, and they have ALOT of sales. Doom3 was like $6 a month ago. Most of my games I've got for under $20.

Of course you still need to have the TDM DL which has nothing to do with Steam, so if you go on vacation you need a dvd of it (you can always back up your local game content on DVD too, that'll save DL time form Steam).
