Did you need the internet?

By the way, is steam version of Doom 3 mod friendly? One of the main reasons why i don't like steam is that getting mods to work on their games can be a real pain in the ass. Too bad GOG never sold Doom 3, would have bought it without even blinking an eye. Now i guess that'll never happen, unless cdproject is pulling a massive prank on us.

Plenty of people use the steam version of Doom 3. There is nothing to prevent you from using it.

Back on topic with my own honest opinion. I would personally rather see efforts focused on adding content/fixing bugs, rather than improving graphics for now. Many of the taffers round here can hardly play TDM as it is, if at all. It isn't like the mod is particularly ugly either: it looks great!
I suggest waiting for the D3 engine sources to be released, and then the real visual improvements can begin.

If the d3 source would be released... :p

lol That's not back on topic. The topic is 'performance survey.

That stuff is being worked on all the time anyway.
Besides, adding content isn't going to make it more playable for more taffers. And there aren't any show stopper bugs that keep people from playing are there?
Mostly that would just be framerate, in which case this thread is to pinpoint exactly the reasons people cannot play and improve upon that.

Its 2010 last time I checked. they have free internet access in pizza joints for crying out loud, also coffee shops and bookstores!.
Cant afford it ? Most people don't even bother securing their wireless routers just leech off them :P

Most of the world doesn't even have that luxury, 2010 or not. Many taffers that aren't posting here much anymore have to travel to the next town to get a half-hour of internet at a library while paying bills and running other errands, and some of them are paying monthly for restricted bandwidth. It's easy to take it all for granted, eh? And yeah, it's 2010, and we're experiencing bad global economy, so being oblivious to that makes you very special.
EDIT: Rural residents do not meet criteria for full connection. More cities than you know shut down shortly after sunset or by midnight, and 24-hour access to businesses with free wi-fi is restricted, and only with the increase in homelessness are more people being allowed to park outside or near businesses to leech wi-fi. Seriously, if you can be that insular not to notice this is common in the world then please take the opportunity to learn something and appreciate your good fortune.
Zoom all the way out, and zoom all the way in:

That map doesn't differentiate between quality, free, private, local laws, hours of use, or give any clue about demographics. It doesn't show which places have the police or security kicking people sitting in their vehicles with laptops out of the area.

Wow that really sucks, cant imagine that. Really I cant.
I do not live in a third world country, sorry that you apparently do but there's really no need to make an attack on me because you are impoverished. I didn't take your job or your money.
All of the local Coffee shops and bookstores offer free WiFi and when the local pizza shop does also I just say wow, the internet is widely available now.
I don't think that makes me special though :confused:l
