I tried to post a comment, but it wouldn't work. Have to be logged into word press. I suppose I'll sign up for an account so I can ask for them to correct their article. It's nice to have a write up, but I just don't understand how they got the information so wrong...especially when the description at the top of our website clearly describes what the mod is.

Ah, these are idiots. They surround us.

THE DARK MOD is a total conversion for Doom 3, turning it into a dark and moody stealth game inspired by the Thief series by Looking Glass Studios.
It's not at all clear unless you know the developers behind each game. The man's obviously only played Thief 3. Also, he was probably linked straight to the download page.
Anyway, he might have done a bit more homework, and maybe if he was a journalist I would get more upset about it ... but it's just some random guy's personal blog. He's obviously only played Thief 3, then played your mod, observed that you mimic Thief, and leapt to the obvious conclusion that it's "Thief 3.5".
Leaving a comment correcting him is a good idea, but the whole "idiot" discussion going on here is pretty sad ... LGS closed almost a decade ago, guys ... people aren't idiots just because they don't know Thief's history.
EDIT: Hrmph, should have checked the article again before posting. It's good that you commented. I see he deleted some comments too. If that came from posters here ... I can only imagine ...

I agree it's not good to say "idiot" to anyone, but the guy on this blog said some things simply not true. A "port" it's a "port", in software language, and TDM it's not a all a "port" or anything, pity a Thief3 port.
It's better to admit it, that's all, and the case has been closed same day, friendly and happy for all.
But the guy closed and erased (this is really bad) comments, saying " I’m not someone’s press agency".
IMHO it's not a good reply too.

The posts he erased really weren't rude at all, they were just two posts stating that tdm was not at all a port. Anyway, I gave him the correct information and he took the stand point that it was his personal tastes were being scrutinized by asking him not to call it a port. Which makes absolutely no sense. He has since removed that comment.

I can sympathise with him there. People often play fast and loose with definitions in casual conversation. Sure, TDM is not a port ... but it has the heart and soul of one.
By asking him to be super accurate in describing the game (
how dare you call TDM a port! It may look like a port in many ways, but technically it's not a port at all!), you are asking him to take
your hobby as seriously as you do. So in a sense, he's correct to say that you are scrutinising his personal tastes.
And geez, all he wanted to do was give your mod a compliment! Talk about biting the hand that feeds you ...
EDIT: yeah i'm feelin grumpy ...

Yes, which I thanked him for most deservedly. I also thanked him for making the changes.
I still have to disagree on the topic of what a port is. Porting, in modding terms, is to 'port' an existing game...levels, sounds, characters, story, and all the gameplay...essentially stripping the insides of an old house and transferring it to a similar but newer house. The Open Dark Engine Project could be rather more accurately described as a port.
So we created a toolset, with sounds...textures...and characters that were inspired by Thief 1 and 2. Nothing is ported.
Anyway, I can see how someone outside of modding circles would be confused.
