Unnecessary.

Does it read the resolution from Doom3's doomcfg.cfg file? Because it was automatically set at 1920x1200 (just how I want it!) on launch.
No, it doesn't. In fact, it is supposed to be 1024x768, it just shows as 1920x1200. I recommend changing it just to be sure.

OK, installed it from the torrent, I can start the mod and I initially got the slpash screen, I went to start the mission so I clicked install and the game restarted automatically and now the entire screen is black with just the mouse cursor..The game is running as there is noise (the splash screen music) and you can hear the noise as the mouse passes over the buttons..Even when I start the task manager to shut it down the task manager is black as well..
PC is running Vista Home Premium
2GB RAM
4850 vid card
Intel core 2 duo E8400 CPU.

I think the Thief assets might be missing. Better petition Eidos.

Somebody else will have a better idea, but the fact that it happened after you installed a missions suggests a problem with the doomcfg file. On installing a new mission, a new cfg is created in the mission folder. I wonder if it didn't get created correctly, or it got created with corrupted values or something?
If you haven't already, try restarting TDM and see what happens. If it's still black, try manually deleting the mission folder that was created when you installed the mission, and then try launching TDM again.

How do you load the other missions ?
Only the training mission shows as available in TDM and I did not see other download links. Training mission plays fine at any rate.
Do they each get their own sub folder ? Only the training mission is under the darkmod directory.
H:\games\Doom3\darkmod\fms\training_mission
There are no others there.

@Thelvyn:
You have to download those on your own. They were released on the same day but as separate packages.

Hm, what version of Windows do you use?
Edit:Also do you have a tdm_update.exe file in your darkmod folder, or is there just a tdm_update_win.zip file? Or are both there?
XP. tdm_update.exe is there. No tdm_update_win.zip.
When I ran the updater again, I got the error again (and also a 'file not found error' for a filename starting with _), but now the error no longer appears.
Underwater the framerate drops (from 30-50) to 7 fps (com_showfps 1 enables the fps in the console ctrl-alt-~ to show and ~ to move console away). Tried changing tdm_underwater_blur, from 3, to 2 or 0, or "", but that did not change anything. I guess the blur calculations are performed regardless of the value.
