How do you load the other missions ?
Only the training mission shows as available in TDM and I did not see other download links.
You need to go to the Mission Archives on the webpage and download the FMs. Only the Training Mission comes by default.
edit: ninja'd :)

Underwater the framerate drops (from 30-50) to 7 fps
Only underwater? Not when you look at the surface? The water shader tends to hit lower vid cards pretty hard. It's possible to turn off the offending shader, but then water looks either bad and/or invisible.

That would be my vidcard, but only underwater. Above water, looking at the water, or swimming on the surface is smooth. (and I see the nice ripple-displacement effect).

I had the water frame-rate problem, but i can't remember how i solved it.

Great work, I can't say that enough! Other than when I go swimming this runs very smooth in the training mission, but like I said when I do go underwater I drop to about 15fps is this normal? My skyboxes look fine on my ATI card, Will be seeding this for a long time.

Somebody else will have a better idea, but the fact that it happened after you installed a missions suggests a problem with the doomcfg file. On installing a new mission, a new cfg is created in the mission folder. I wonder if it didn't get created correctly, or it got created with corrupted values or something?
If you haven't already, try restarting TDM and see what happens. If it's still black, try manually deleting the mission folder that was created when you installed the mission, and then try launching TDM again.
I replaced the doomconfig.cfg out of the darkmod directory with the one I downloaded...Now it works as it should...

Alright, regrettably I am already starting to lose some love for this. I'm attempting to play Chalice of Kings. Several things proving to be annoying. No apparent way into the house other than having a direct encounter with guards. The guards are impossibly sensitive when not alerted, even on lower difficulties. They are not effectively distracted by anything, even noisemakers. One guard keeps getting stuck walking in circles. Water arrows don't always work, when they do 4 or 5 are required just to extinguish a single torch. Guards can spot me from a across a dark room when I am hiding above them in the rafters. Overall, not feeling very Thiefy as basic techniques are proving ineffective, and options are limited. Kinda seems unreasonably difficult, even for a seasoned Thief veteran. Either I'm missing something obvious, or some basic mechanics are off with this and some considerable tweaking is still needed. I realize this is just a beta and I don't expect it to be perfect. The years of hard work are obvious. Just trying to provide helpful feedback.

Beta test of a beta release of a game made on a beta version of a game-making toolset? The FM is separate, really.

Sorry to hear you're having problems. It sounds like things aren't quite working as they're supposed to for you.
You definitely only need one water arrow per torch, and they always work as long as you're reasonably on target. Try hitting slightly above the torch. Have you played the archery section of the training mission? Aiming isn't quite identical to Thief so it needs a bit of practice.
I haven't had the opportunity to play that particular mission myself yet, but I find it hard to believe that it's deliberately that sensitive, or that there aren't any other ways in. Even if it is, such problems would be confined only to that mission. (As is the AI walking in circles; that is likely to be a pathfinding issue.) Try another one perhaps?
I know that multiple team members spent a significant amount of time tweaking guard distraction with thrown objects, so that's definitely supposed to work.
Maybe your lightgem is malfunctioning? Have you tried the stealth section of the training map to see if it works properly there?
I can only stress the need to play the training map, as things do work a little differently from Thief and will take some getting used to. Think of it as having to learn how to play Thief all over again. Thief experience isn't necessarily directly transferable. Remember this is a different game. :)

You didn't play the training mission, did you? (rhetorical)
TDM is not built on the Dark Engine, and there are differences.

Yes I did. Read my past posts. Actually I found the training mission more enjoyable.
