Blank screen.
OK, it could still be up to the black screen of playing.
Repeating the question:
Are there any logs which could be helpful to you (as developers) and to everybody else? If there are any logs, they could tell you what's wrong and correct this in the next beta.

Great work guys. I only have to complain for technical reasons: i have a Ati 4890 in Winxp 32 bits, latest drivers, and i have both the bloom option and the skyboxes bugged.
Also... is the ai range vison/fov vision better than in Thief games?

My lappy is clearly not up to playing this mod smoothly, but I didn't have any technical troubles. Things slow down when I encounter AIs and picking up objects sends the fps to zero for a second. Can't wait to try it on a decent rig.
I can't put my finger on it, but I did have problems focusing on the graphics. Everything feels slightly blurred. Is this something to do with the textures or settings? I've been trying to tweak things but haven't noticed much of a difference.
Think I'm going to fire up DarkRadiant now. :)

I got the same impression, it seems like they see and hear better, and are well aware of their environments. Makes me wonder if this is the reason why one of the guards you have to avoid in the training has an eyepatch, and therefore a blind spot...

Have you tried the anisotropic filtering settings in the menu?
Also, please have a look into your DoomConfig.cfg file and see if these are at 0:
seta image_forceDownSize "0"
seta image_downSize "0"
seta image_downSizeBump "0"
Otherwise D3 will scale textures down and that makes them look blurry. Usually, you see this also in the menus, the text becomes blurry.

Quick and dirty fix for the bad sky that is affecting some graphics card. Download @ (
http://www.fidcal.com/DarkMod/downloads/training_mission_noskyportal.zip)
What you get is a zip file containing a maps folder. You need to have first installed the trainer but it doesn't need to be installed currently. Unzip the zip file into doom3/training_mission (NOT darkmod/fms/training_mission.) Check you should now have a new folder called maps inside it.
Try playing the FM again. This sky is not dynamic but it's very good. You lose the moving clouds and the skyline but hopefully it is not distracting like the original.
Note: This is experimental but harmless. If not wanted just delete that new maps folder and the original will work. Let me know if this is of any use.

I'm not of much help with this but as you can imagine, we don't have too many hands free so you may need to persist to get this sorted. I know there are log files but how to set them up to output what is relevant here I don't know. Persist until someone comes back to you as it sounds like log file output might help to throw light on the problem.
Just to make this completely clear:
Dark Mod starts normally
You can play an FM
In-game if you hit Esc then (always? All FMs?) you just get a black screen? Or possibly the game is still running but inoperative.
So if you hit Esc again does it return to the game?
Effectively you cannot access the menus at all?

Dunno about fov but I'm fairly sure they can see further.

Check my thread in your official forum. I've provided even screenies.
That thread only talked about transparent AI, not black menu screens. Which problem are you having currently?

I downloaded it ... Unfortunately, while Thief's den worked perfectly on my machine (Intel 946Gz), Saint Lucia did not. The new beta also doesn't work. My suggestion: Put it simply somewhere that you don't support integrated Intel Chipsets so other people won't waste their money for Doom 3 if they have Integrated Intel cards.
It would be in error to post that. I have two systems with integrated Intel cards and TDM runs on both.
