I think it may be a bug in this very mission, as I had the same problem of the Doom 3 font popping up in Crown of Penitence but not in any of the other FMs.
You may be right. I loaded up "Chalice of Kings" and the font has changed to what I assume is your normal one. I don't have the problem with text run-off in this mission.

Good!
By the way there's some update. I downloaded the Outpost and installed it. The screen is pitch black, but the textures COULD BE SEEN. This is starting to get strange - for example I can see cobblestones, but it's dark, dark, dark, dark, dark... I can also see the contours of the buildings - they exist, but it's very, very dark...
If I remember correctly, the specular maps are not compressed, so you might see their highlights sparkle. But it won't really solve your issue.

If by compressed you mean saved as .dds, they are. It's the normalmaps that aren't.

I've installed Doom 3 and patched it to the latest version after installing the darkmod i'm able to run it fine and change settings but as soon as i try to install the training mission and the game restarts i just get a blank screen with the darkmod music playing :( i've reinstalled Doom 3 and the darkmod 5 times now it works fine first time the darkmod menu i mean but as soon as i quit the game and restart it i have the same problem (even without installing any missions) has anyone had this problem or does anyone know of a fix for it.
I'm trying to run it on Windows 7 x64 with 4gb of ram Nvidia Geforce 8800GT and Creative sound card all system files and drivers are up to date as well.

Played through all the FMs last night. I'm a little stunned at how well this has come together. Really excited to see what FM authors do with the object handling and improved mantling.

Thanx for the kind words, but you are
a pot-addict!
:D

Unless we snuck in a bug, it is supposed to heal you. But you now have 100 HP and it only heals 1, so you need to snack quite a bit more - no more "An apple a day keeps chopped off limbs re-appearing" :D
Btw, try the apples, they are delicious :)

Thanks Tels! The text was also blurry.
All of those three variables were already set to 0. I set anisotropic filtering to 8, and then played around with the downSize stuff (setting to 1, with 256 limit) and it's actually looking alright now.
Part of my problem was feeling ill from the visuals, but that will have been influenced by playing on a laptop that can't do black very well, and I also needed to tweak the gamma and brightness, as per the tutorial, and now I'm very happy with it.
Glad to read that! :)

If you see the black screen and hear the music, does ALT+TAB (and then doing it again) bring you back to the game?

Someone else reported that problem earlier in this thread...had to do with a corrupted .cfg file, I believe. I think they copied their D3 one and it worked, but you'd have to search through and read the post to be sure--somewhere around page 6, I think...?

I could be wrong, but I think edible food entities were left out of the release because we needed to test them further. In any case, it would be up to the mapper to choose them for his/her map, and I don't think the 3 FMs included edible food.

What, they can be eaten? Since they didn't go into the inventory, I thought they were just for throwing at people. Gotta try eating them with the Use key... :sly:

how should be these variables set to avoid long loading times:
seta image_useNormalCompression "x"
seta image_useAllFormats "x"
seta image_useCompression "x"
seta image_preload "x"
do you use (pre)compressed textures now, so on-load compression is not necessary any more?
