The blackjack frustrated me at first, until I got the hang of it. It is pretty tricky.
Unlike Thief, there isn't a 'grace period' where you can use a short burst of speed (on most surfaces except tiles) and get an effective knock-out. If you so much as press the run key while near an enemy you'd better be heading the opposite direction.
Now that I'm getting used to it, I like it. I have to take it slower and think a bit more.
Also, I'll say that this mod is definitely heading in the direction that Thief 3 should have taken.

I don´t know, if this has been posted before. I have a strange "Bug":
When I am starting TDM for the SECOND time, I see the normal Doom 3 start logo; then I only see a black screen with the TDM music. I can hear the clicks when I am moving the cursor but I don´t see the menu.
Can someone help me, please?
When I am deleting the darkmode folder and copying the downloaded folder to doom 3, the start is o.k. After the second boot, I still have this bug.

Same things for objects, also it stuck often.
The heavier/larger an object is, the more it lags behind and stuck. You can adjust the object's distance with the mouse wheel, it often helps.
What I like is that now player has to be really careful manipulating objects near NPCs, like in RL. Clumsy thief will be detected.

Are you running tdm_launcher.exe? You shouldn't see the Doom 3 logo at all.

Just an idea:
I noticed that we can stop opening doors from opening fully. Which means, that we can open it only little bit to peek at the other side. But at the moment opening a door slightly, then opening it a little more, and little more, and such can only be done by excessive right clicking. I was thinking that it would be more practical to allow for some fluid door opening mechanism, for example, frobbing a door by holding the right mouse button then using the mousewheel to control how much the door opens. Just something that was on my mind.
EDIT: Last post on the page again? :O

Yes, I am always running the tdm_launcher.exe. (It´s called tdmlauncher.exe for me). As I said, after every reboot I only see a blue ID- Logo with the mars in the backgrund; then the screen gets black, and I can only see and move the mouse cursor. Sound is fine.
This is a big problem because installing a Fm needs a reboot. Is it possible to start a FM without rebooting?

I tried this, but the training mission still takes about 7 minutes to load (which is an improvement over 10, but still...).
what is your exact config?

That actually sounds fantastic. I would do something similar in Thief by frobbing the door and kind of standing in front of it a bit. Allowed me to peak ahead into hallways while still retaining cover.
Seems like TDM takes a lot of the original Thief's gameplay mechanics and upgrades them a bit (sliding bodies around without picking them up, swordplay, rope swinging, just to name a few), why not door opening as well? :D

Didn't we already? :) I didn't think Thief allowed you to open doors just a crack.
The mousewheel idea has been raised before. I don't think I'd care for it myself, but there's obviously some interest.

I think it raised some problems when we considered it, but I can't recall the exact discussion. Our current implimentation is definitely an improvement over Thief though.
