Yes, I am always running the tdm_launcher.exe. (It´s called tdmlauncher.exe for me). As I said, after every reboot I only see a blue ID- Logo with the mars in the backgrund; then the screen gets black, and I can only see and move the mouse cursor. Sound is fine.
This is a big problem because installing a Fm needs a reboot. Is it possible to start a FM without rebooting?
I had the same problem, but just once. I re-installed the mod, and it worked fine from there. The mouse pointer is the default D3 one, so my guess is some config file gets fucked and the game can't find the TDM assets.
Overall, I'm really impressed by how far the mod has come since I left the team. I had to smile when I did some lockpicking, because I remember the heated discussions about it vividly, but I think you guys found a good compromise of the different models. Combat is difficult, but fun. I'd like an option there to tie the attacks to the keyboard move keys and the parry button to frob. Default is wheel-click, and I keep sheating/changing weapons by accident.
Also, I KO'd a guy with a key on his belt before I picked his pocket, and it took me a while to turn him around so I could frob it from his belt. Autosearch on frob would be a good addition, I think.

Okay, I'm having two problems, one beyond my control and the other because, apparently, I'm a moron. We'll get to that one in just a sec.
As for the first one, the training mission runs just fine for me with the exception of the object manipulation room. Without fail, if I approach the area of the room near the candle cage, the game crashes. For the life of me I can't figure out why.
Now for the fun one... *deep inhale* Can someone tell me how to get the bloody FMs to work? :o
The instructions on the wiki say that the FMs come as PK4 files that you extract directly into darkmod\fms. The downloads, though, are .zip files that themselves contain the PK4 files along with many other files and folders. Extracting them directly to \fms doesn't do any good, so it would appear you must first create a folder for the FM within the \fms folder. That, at least, causes the FM to show up on the list in-game. However, after installing the FM, I can't actually play it because the game says it can't find the .map.
Some clearer instructions would be appreciated.

We've had reports that Internet Explorer 8 is renaming the PK4 files to ZIP without asking (thank you very much, IE8!).
Rename the zip file to PK4 once downloaded and drop them into your fms/ folder, this should do the trick.

Oh! Oh that's just mean!
You were right, though. Just a quick rename and they work fine. Much obliged. :thumb:

Couple days late, but (when you don't read a forum every day) ...
Congratulations :thumb: :joke: :cheeky:  ...
... for your Dark Mod release!
Now I have a reason to finally dust off my as-yet un-installed $20 Doom 3.
This is a major milestone for Thief fans, and demonstrates that even very large multi-year fan projects can be completed with the right people.
Can't wait to delve into this new world!
Well done!

I don´t know, if this has been posted before. I have a strange "Bug":
When I am starting TDM for the SECOND time, I see the normal Doom 3 start logo; then I only see a black screen with the TDM music. I can hear the clicks when I am moving the cursor but I don´t see the menu.
Can someone help me, please?
When I am deleting the darkmode folder and copying the downloaded folder to doom 3, the start is o.k. After the second boot, I still have this bug.
I had the same problem which was answered a couple of pages back it's because of a corrupted .cfg file to fix it just copy the doomconfig.cfg over writing the one inside of the darkmod folder.

Is it possible to download this to any random directory with the updater? I want to download this with a computer that does not have Doom 3 installed and transfer it later.

Yes, just run the updater in an empty folder and it will download all the stuff into that folder. Better call that folder "darkmod".
