Re sound: We were hurting in the sound department for literally years. Toward the end, we got some much needed help, but there is of course more to do.
Well I am more than happy to do some clean recordings of my motorcycle boots, which sound closer to a thieves foot ware than hobnail boots do..in fact if I did the above how would i integrate into as a patch..? or do I need to upload it to the darkmod team so they can add it as an update..?
Also another minor bug that I cam accross - when under water the game engine becomes stuttery...?!.

Fidcal: I'll check when I get home, but I'm pretty certain all I have bound to strafe left and right are F and H, respectively.
... on the sound issue, this may be a little cheeky, but would it be possible for a third-party user (i.e. us fans) to extract elements of the DarkEngine Thief soundscape and shove them into TDM?

@Bikerdude: yup you can submit them for consideration as an official update if you wish. Stop by the official forums to do so. Have to be pretty high in quality to mix in well, be warned.
@vorob: walk further into the room -- the brightening of the sconces is intended.

I think he was asking if he could use ambient sounds from TDM in Thief, which is ok in my book, as long as credit is given. There should be something along those lines in the license? I've nothing against people using the stuff I've made anyways.
Yes, this is exactly what I meant. ;)
@codereader: Many thanks for the info! :thumb:

First of all, hats off to you guys! More decent levels and polishing and there's no need for T4 :cheeky:.
Some complaints though:
1.
First of all melee fighting. In most first person games where you use melee weapons, the attacks are executed with attack and movement keys but in TDM you have to use mouse to tell the game what kind of slash you want to use. This is very akward to put it simply. Mouse movement should only be used for you know... looking around and aiming ;). Right now I'm trying to to use mouse to aim my attacks, keep myself faced to the enemy AND using it to select different slashes. That's just one function too much to handle effectively. I often ended up using some random attack because I tried to aim and choose a slash at the same time. My suggestion is to change melee so that you use movement keys to select the slashes and parrying directions like in so many games before (Arx Fatalis, Oblivion and Dark Messiah to name a few). That way we could aim and do effective attacks without too much hassle.
Other than that the combat was superb and I liked how the AIs weren't a picknick either. Also the fact you could end the battle with one aimed thrust is a nice thing.
2.
Secondly the arrows fly just too fast in my opinion. In reality arrows are very fast yes, but in a game realism doesn't always work. In T1 and T2 arrows were quite large and slow which ment you could easily see how the flew and what they hit. You still had to aim in T1 and T2 however so it wasn't just a shooting gallery. Also I'm finding it hard to aim my arrows because they have all different sized tips. In T1 and T2 aiming was a lot easier because the reticle we had applied for every arrow. Have you thought of making the bow like in the first two games?
Some little suggestions:
-Some valuable objects could use a more contrast in their textures to make them more shiny, especially the golden pots, bottles, plates etc.
-Frob highlight needs more contrast as now you can't always see what you have selected in bright light
As always take everything as feedback .
Also I have one bug to report. My lightgem is always black and the enemies hardly ever see me. I installed using the updater and tried different resolutions and aspect ratios. Here are my system specs:
8800GT 512MB
2GB RAM
Intel Core Duo E6600 @3200MHz

So i already played the tutorial and the three missions. Now what? :P
I know, i know. You have worked for lots of years to release the damn mod, for free, and here we are asking for even more. But damn, only three short missions at release is very little content. In fact, forget about me, i can have patience, but there will be lots of people who only have a passing interest in this, they will download the mod, play the three missions in one evening and they will forget The Dark Mod forever, even if later you bring tons of content.
So the simple question here is,
How many unreleased FMs you know are "in development" status? 2, 3? 10? 100?
How many of the previous FMs are close to being done (say... in the next three months) and how many are in the "sometime around next year... or who know when" status?
Just to have a general idea of what i should expect. That's better than having no idea.
In the official TDM forum there should be a "in development" FM section so mappers can show their work, have feedback from users, upload beta versions, etc.
