The Dark Mod's current (active) coding team does not currently have a great deal of experience with
developing and implementing rendering technologies (very few coders have this skill) and have been relegated
to waiting for new renderer developments in the general Open Source community.
While some promising additions have been made to the vanilla Doom 3 engine code (64-bit, cmake compile, EFX audio, etc),
there has been a bit of a slowdown in activity since the Doom 3 BFG engine has been released.
I am starting this thread with the hope that Dark Mod fans will contribute either code or funds to project improvements
via BountySource.
The first item I am proposing is:
(
https://www.bountysource.com/issues/2883499-port-gpu-skinning)
Github project Page:
(
https://github.com/raynorpat/morpheus)
With this change, vanilla Doom 3 gains most of the rendering performance of Doom 3 BFG.
If I see some action here, I will open additional trackers for desired engine improvements.
Thanks.
