The "waking guards up or not" thing could be easily justified and used for a FM followingly : we could assume that our favorite Thief carries some impregnated / magical cloth that he just uses to cover KO'd guards mouths for a second, provoking multiple hours of deep sleep.
An FM where guards would wake up after some time could make use of this and explain how our character stole this cloth in the first place.

We'll leave that to FM authors to add/ figure out on their own I'm afraid. We came to a concensus long ago, after much heated and logical debate, that it would be an involved process that takes far too much time away from focussing on the core gameplay...and surely we have learned from TDS, that focusssing on cool new features is not always the best thing to do. We seriously do not have the time nor the resources to commit to creating and balancing such a system within Thief styled gameplay. If someone wishes to try adding it later, they're more than welcome.
I would prefer if the thread were kept on topic though. I don't want this becoming a feature debate thread. Our features are locked down at this point, not open for debate.

Oh no need to be so defensive I wasn't talking about TDM at all.
You're not making FMs but a toolset, and we all know it'll be perfectly easy for FM authors to implement such features to the toolset at their own leisure. I was merely giving an idea for somone who would want to add this to their FM.
And what IS the topic we should discuss here anyway ?

The teaser trailer I'd guess.

It certainly won't be "perfectly easy", it's just a possibility.

No worries, I wasn't being defensive, just stating the situation. :)

Don't worry, they'll be doing more than just shaking their fist at you. :) Climbing just won't be one of them.
Alright, first of all:
Drool.
:)
I couldn't help but notice this little teaser slipping by somehow. I always wanted the guards to do more than "shake their fists", even though that was a perfect and amusing start. If the guards climbed up on that little table and tried whacking at thee, it could be disasterous for both parties!
Sounds like they are taking it a step further...

Oooh. Liking (among other things) dragging bodies - works a treat and presumingably saves a month of coding/animating/fuss. Win.

I suppose the most natural feeling thing for me would be the guards simply swinging their swords at thy boot.
