The Power of Extremely Small Levitation. Not very useful, but impresses people at parties.
Not useful? If your feet never touch the ground, what do you not make?

Wow, you guys have nailed it.

Sorry that I'm a little late to the party: Excellent video - congratulations to the team! :)
The mod seems to be shaping up nicely.

"Walks she an inch above the ground, for all the dirt of her footprints have I found."

I asked this a while ago, more for the current T mission developers, and answers to these were more or less " too complicated -difficult / not possible etc' with the current engine
same questions being now for the dark mod and the doom 3 editor.....
1) Can the guards be made to wake up after a period of time after being blackjacked,
2) Will "the guards" be able to rope climb up after you if you are up on a ledge,etc...
3) Will the guards be able to go into the water after you
2, and 3 being the most common Garrett evasive manuvers........
Thanks

1) Can the guards be made to wake up after a period of time after being blackjacked,
I'm sure they could be made to wake up, but then you're dealing with a bunch of technical issues to iron out and also throwing the entire concept of Thief gameplay off balance. Rendering the AI unconcious is the alternative to killing. Like Looking Glass, we would like to encourage 'non-lethal' gameplay. If guards just keep getting back up, what does that do for gameplay? Several things.
1. The guard that you took great pains to quietly remove from your path is now on patrol again...but this time he's pissed and has alerted all other nearby guards in the map. That's a kick in the face for stealthy players. So, you either get your ass handed to you, restart the map, or go on a killing spree.
Aside from that, there are technical issues, such as having an AI transform from ragdoll to a standing position. It's a lot of work for a feature that won't really do much for gameplay other than throwing it off balance. We really won't sacrifice core gameplay to achieve. We're not out to reinvent the wheel, we just want to further balance it for a smoother ride. :)

No. Technically very difficult, and not worth the time. Again, you're backing the player into a corner where their only recourse is likely to be killing. We don't want the focus to be on combat.

To a degree I believe, but we haven't gotten that far yet. You have to remember that they're wearing a LOT of heavy armour. It's not like swimming would do them much good. Again, more technical issues with physics and believable swimming animations.

I agree with you for the most part NH, but 2) is the exception. It's always a bit jarring when you have guards doing the old "shaking fist" routine because you've climbed up on a crate - there's no reason why they shouldn't follow you. Plus once you've implemented motions for climbing, it would be pretty easy to hack in third person support. *ducks*

*ducks*Don't worry, they'll be doing more than just shaking their fist at you. :) Climbing just won't be one of them.
