Can someone tell us what's the average mission size in MB when using TDM editor? I am used to the "huge" 50-100 MB mission sizes in domed but I guess that could be a tiny mission in TDM?

Big: 50 to 100MB
Medium Big: 25 to 50MB
Medium: 10 to 25MB
Small: 1 to 10MB
As said beofore, all the FMs about to be released are small.
Game time varies depending on type. To put this in context: Chalice of Kings is 3MB. Typical game time is 1 to 2 hours or more depending on play style. Saint Lucia was 17MB but game time was not 5 times longer than Chalice. The trainer is 8MB.

In case you are reffering to the actual
.map file generated by the editor, this size is pretty proportional the number of brushes and entities you put in. We have .map files which are around 16 to 20 MB, and these are pretty large maps. The .map files are using an uncompressed, text-based format, and can be zipped down to 1/8 of their original size.

That's good:thumb:

Mighty impressive, and a testament to John Carmack's coding genius. Don't forget, though, that a large mission file in TMA would be about 16-18 MB uncompressed, or 4-5 MB when zipped up. All the rest is new textures, objects, sounds, movies and other extra resources. So expect TDM missions with a wealth of custom assets to be larger than the size cited by Fidcal and codereader.

Yup. If you're only using the core content, and no custom content, the downloads will be pretty darn small though.

This is a good reason why, if anyone makes any significant general-purpose textures, models, or other assets, why not contribute them to share with the community? They can go in a later update and your FM and others will be smaller.

Last night I finally completed St. Lucia, and the only reason it took this long was that my computer has only 512M and the game was so slow previously and it took me this far to actually read the performance optimisations page. That, and I learned to avoid that annoying bug that re-binds Esc to overwrite the last save game by always saving and loading through the console instead of using the menu for anything at all. :)
Back to waiting for the beta! :)

We should really have something like Vigil's sub-site The Well Equipped Thief:
(

Has lots of nice textures and models for Thief. There should really be a TDM asset repository of exactly this type. Between that and updates to TDM we'd get something amazing out of all this.
