I've just found this clearing's post. These shots are by me. I was experimenting with water while creating TDM map and discussing this matter with my fellow Thief Forum members. HL2 texture was there just for testing purposes. If you check this thread you will find other screenshots with reflective surfaces that I was using then.
In short, I never intended to use HL2 texture in any TDM mission.

About 3 days work so far. Entire ground floor/sewer is laid out. 2nd floor is about half laid out. 3rd floor to do after that. And skybox.

What are the Doom 3 engine's limitations? For instance, how many polygons can be rendered on screen, how big can the levels be, etc.?

How fast is your machine and how big is your memory? If it fits into memory, Doom 3 can run it. :p
