The Dark Project. Need mod/patch help. - by gunsmoke

So, great thing happened! My disc was scratched and I couldn't play my DP install. I went to get a DVD, and on my shelf was an unopened jewel box T: DP! I don't even remember buying it!
So, I have never, ever played a ver. other than Gold. Amazingly, on Vista, it installed without the force command, and the videos work! Is there a way to find what ver. # this is so I know if I need an official patch? I want to have the best ver. of the fan patches, too. I am not interested in texture mods, but a widescreen would help. Is that new french mod that popped up recently for just gold, or is there a DP ver.? Also, what fan mission loader are you guys recommending these days. I haven't played an FM in years.
Thanks for your patience, I just haven't been in the Thief scene in 5 years +.

I thought maybe I could get a little more than a link to a sticky. For example, my readme has a .wri filetype associated with it. I was wondering how the hell to even find out what ver. it is.
Another question was a matter of opinion, what is the popular mod loader, and why.

well, all you need is there, so there is no point in giving more. read the readmes and instructions if you care for the details.
btw, a pretty good FM launcher is now integrated in the exe, you can activate it yourself - edit cam_mod.ini, you should see this:
Code:
; always start the FM Selector (if one is present)
;fm
remove the semicolon
; that is right before
fm like this
Code:
; always start the FM Selector (if one is present)
fm
and the fm loader will start once you run the exe (a folder for fms will be created, you will put the fms there).

Gunny - I think whatever version is installed off the disks is irrelevant. You should grab the Tfix program that voodoo linked to and use that, it includes the recent fan patch to 1.19. It's got everything you need in one package. A bunch of other necessary fixes will be installed and you can decide during the installation what mods or enhancements you want to use (or not use). If you want to go back later and change or modify you installation, you can just run Tfix again.
As far as mission loaders, there is one included with the 1.19 patch, but it's a little clunky so a lot of people here still use (
