I am playing an old Xbox game; Mission Impossible:Operation Surma. It is a shameless Splinter Cell rip-off, being based around 'gadgety stealth'. It is a decent stealth game to fill that void until something else comes along, though. Plus it is under $5.

Some games that are not pure stealth but are pretty stealthy (about the same level of stealthiness as System Shock 2 - if you don't play as a marine):
- Aliens vs Predator 2 as predator or alien. The predator especially must be stealthy. But the stealthiest part of all is the early alien part (but of course this is alien stealth, not human stealth).
- No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 (2 even has ninjas in it and you can take their weapons). NOLF 1 particularly is a great game and people have humorous conversations.
I played some of Splinter Cell and it was interesting.

I think the stealth part in NOLF was not too well developed, and the fact that there were parts where you had to be stealthy just made it worse. Not to mention NOLF2 with its respawning guards.
They were really good games IMO, just not the stealth bits.

I'm playing Fallout 3 right now. It can be played very stealthily, especially at night, and with a good sneak skill. I'm getting rid of most enemies with single-shot Sneak Attacks.

The Hunted mod for HL2 (back when people still played it) had one player who had to play it stealthily. It was pretty scary 'cuz he was 99% invisible.

I don't know, man, it doesn't look too bad. Sure it's no classic stealth Splinter Cell, but it looks like it could be fun. Different but fun. I'll definitely give it a try.

The trailer made me interested, but once the gameplay video started, it didnt feel like SC anymore at all. It might be calibrated for marketing, just concentrating on the most explosive actiony phases of the game, but judging by the speed Fisher is able to pop several bad guys' heads or move/climb along the cornice at almost runspeed, it's not very promising for decent stealth.
I don't really see the point in those interrogation phases. They of course show the massive inferiority complex games industry has with cinema, and they scream Quicktime Events all over the place, or even just semi-interactive cutscene where you can mouselook over the shoulder while the pseudo cinematic sequence occurs.
I'm not sold at all, but i'll keep an eye on it since i love the previous games.

I own every single SC game. I love them.
This is...weird.

I played Chaos theory as my first SC game a while ago because I read in this very thread that it was more similiar to Thief than the other installations. While I liked the stealth mechanics and the AI is pretty good (on expert at least) the levels are just boring and very linear compared to thief. I thought the levels would get a bit more open after the first missions but I was wrong. I can't imagine what kind of rails you need to follow in the first two SC games if Chaos theory is somehow more free in terms of gameplay. I can't even be arsed to finish the game because I feel I've seen everything it has to offer and the story isn't interesting.
This new one reminds me of Arkhams Asylum.
