In the context used, "buggy" is meant as a piece of the known whole not working right, "bug" is meant as not knowing there's intent and thinking what is happening is an accident of code... when it's not.
Which part the bug is wasn't defined, so the context made it sound inaccurate.

Bafford is getting his money illegally anyway. The loot in cragscleft prison belongs to an institution, not individual people (and anyway, they treat their prisoners like crap). The guys in the bonehoard are too stiff to enjoy it. Ramirez gets his money illegally. Constantaine's mansion is just whacked. Then it's more undead, a lost city, another hammerite church, more undead, and a whole load of otherworldy bug things.
At no stage in T1 to you actually feel like you are stealing from everyday people. This was probably deliberate, because I imagine they weren't 100% sure people would respond well to it.
By the time I played T2 I was accustomed to just stealing everything I could.
T3 actually got me to think a little about the ethics of stealing though. The city sections definately added a personal side to stealing.

I can tell you that if I bump a guard over the head, I'll generally look for somewhere comfy like a sofa or bed to hide him.
Morality is buggy.

I feel bad stealing from poor peasant's shacks in Gothic 1 or 2. Just something like you feel like a hero in the game, you start to become more and more of one, and yet you can go into some fisherman's hut and steal his only bottle of water and 1 fish that he caught ;)

Thief has an odd morality to it.
I can count the times I've felt bad stealing from someone in the game on one hand. (Widow Moria, some servant in A Pirate's Downfall, to name two off the top of my head). 99% of the time I rather revel in the feeling of taking something that doesn't belong to me, especially when I feel the person it does belong to doesn't deserve it anyway. Not that I generally care though. Having the skill to be able to sneak in and take things from under their noses just feels good to me. Some people cheat on their spouses, some people embezel, some hide their gambling habit, or the fact that they smoke, drink, or use drugs. Me, I take pretty little pixelated things that have value only in a fantasy game universe.
On the other hand, as a few other people have said, I don't like to kill, and I will usually put unconcious people onto beds, on sofas, chairs, etc. Unless they piss me off. Then they get the piled up with some open bottles of liquor treatment someone else mentioned. I actually kind of pat myself on the virtual back for killing undead and spiders. Figure I'm doing the common folks (and frequently the Hammerites) a service by doing so.

Quite surprising how many other taffers put bodies "to sleep" on beds and couches. I thought I was the only one, I always just half figured that when they woke up they'd just assume that they fell asleep on the job. Amusing the things we do in a video game.

Honestly I just throw them into a dark corner. I mean, once they're clubbed unconscious they don't care anyway.

I've never felt like the stealing in
Thief is really stealing, because you're in a world where no one but Garrett cares about the loot lying around.
It feels more like Mario collecting coins than a real act of theft.:laff:
That's an interesting way of putting it.:cheeky:
