I've been fat and thin, Vasquez. But apart from the 18 months underweight, I've been the same size since I was 18. I can't help it, all my family are slim apart from my sister. And a healthy lifestyle for me depends entirely on whether I'm mobile and whether I have any money. Perhaps I'm a bit freaky but when I think about food, my taste buds tell me what I want to eat and I eat more or less when I'm hungry which is about twice a day. I guess I'm lucky that I don't like sweet stuff at all.
As it happens I just had to have a whole heap of blood tests which were all perfect and apparently I'm what's called a good insurance risk. I was very, very surprised but perhaps it's down to formative years being in a world without fast food. :D

This is probably the most normal and healthy way to eat :)
Which is good, because my taste buds often tell me they want chocolate! :D
Edit. I also had blood tests recently and they were fine, only overall cholesterol a bit high, luckily the "good cholesterol" was over 2, too. But that hopefully will get better now that my thyroid seems to work normally again (*knocks on wood*).

Fingers crossed then! Porridge oats highly recommended for lowering cholesterol, lifting depression and water that's had some oats soaking in it is brilliant for skin things like eczema and psoriasis. And it's cheap.

Yep! And fortunately I happen to love oatmeal :) Also more fish (which I also love), olive oil etc.

Also, BMI can be quite a poor measure of body
fat: it only compares weight and height, so giant musclebound lunks will come out as "obese", even with like..2% body fat, because muscle is some heavy shit.
Agreed. I'm definitely not a muscle-bound lunk, but I'm what most people would call fit (cardio 4x/wk and resistance training 2x/wk) with what my PT calls a "mesomorphic" body type. I was sitting in a doctor's office yesterday to discuss a running-related foot injury. Waiting for the doc, I studied the BMI poster on the wall. At 5'11.5" and 195lbs, the BMI says I'm at the top of the "overweight" section, on the verge of "obese". In fact, to be in the "normal" section, I'd have to lose a whopping 26 POUNDS. The doctor admitted the BMI is virtually worthless and doesn't account for active people with an appreciable amount of muscle mass.

Now that I've cut back alcohol my biggest sin is sugar, mostly chocolate, otherwise I eat quite healthy, lots of veggies and fruits etc. I don't even want to quit chocolate for good, but I'm trying to not eat so much :p During summer it's much easier when there are plenty of healthier yummies like fresh strawberries, and in hot weather I tend to lose my appetite, but in wintertime when it's dark and cold, chocolate is just too tempting.
Well, dark chocolate is pretty good for you and if I remember correctly, it actually has a lower GI/GL than I expected, so it shouldnt give you that much of a sugar spike. Provided you don't eat a whole tablet in a sitting, which I've seen people do :p
Also a scoop of pure cocoa in a banana milkshake = foodgasm.

Eating powder is of course superior to eating just the ordinary food itself.
Depends for what purpose. Eating powder will deliver the food's nutrients far more quickly and in most cases, what you don't immediately need will be excreted. Best to get a slow drip-feed of those nutrients instead.

For anyone needing a little incentive: (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-18876880) A lack of exercise is now causing as many deaths as smoking across the world, a study suggests. So, not only are British women now more overweight than women in any other European country, the UK general public are amongst the least active.
Apparently though, in a discussion about this on Breakfast this morning, all that cleaning I used to consider a complete waste of time, wasn't.

Personally I've been getting a fair amount of exercise through airsoft and paintball (moreso the former nowadays), as well as volunteering with the National Guard to help train recruits under the Recruit Sustainment Program. Lately I haven't been exercising much, though, since I've been recovering from scleral buckle surgery to treat a detached retina and doc's orders are not to run around or get hit in the face.
