Time is the great healer. When I was 19 I thought I'd broken a bone in my foot, it was so painful to walk. But being a young twit I just walked though it. One day something snapped (I actually felt something snap, like a rubber band) and suddenly it was all good with no problems since.
I'm not saying you should work through it mind! Just that giving something time helps. I injured a rotator cuff muscle years ago (10+) and it's only in the past 3 years that my shoulder has been problem free. In the meantime - painkillers?

Koob - warm up before you exercise. Start light - do 10-20 pushups on your knees for a few weeks, do dips on the edge of a bench with both feet on the floor, get the muscles used to the motions. Then, start introducing a few full body weight push ups and for the bench dips, cross one foot onto the other which will increase the load. Don't neglect your core muscles either - that was the mistake I made.
Sulphur - I had my dad as a PT (he was a competition body builder in the '70s and '80s) for squats and lifts, my form was ok, just have a vulnerability in my lower back. I'm trying to be optimistic, but am starting to be concerned that it may be ankylosing spondylitis (my brother is part way through getting a diagnosis of that, plus I have other signs which point towards it). What also didn't help matters was that I fell down a flight of stairs in May and my right ankle hasn't been right since. Still, got to do what I can with what I have.

Thanks for the tips, I've definitely tried taking it slow and easy (knee-push ups) and not ignoring other muscle groups, but it always comes back. It's more of an elbow/joint pain, not a muscle pain tho. And I did train a bit with a friend who is a personal trainer before, so my form wasn't too terrible.
I agree getting a trainer to "get into it" and set myself up properly is a good idea. But as I said, I've never cared too much about workouts/looking buff/whatever so don't really have the motivation to dedicate time and money for that tbh :p

Get fit young. Trust me, you'll be grateful and it's worth it.

Careful not to injure yourself. Easily done on that. And we want before and after pics mmmmm?
45? I though you were 25.

Good for you...I've completed the course myself, and highly recommend it.
Once completed, it's all about maintenance.

I've got a sit down interview with a PT this week because I've decided before I hit 33 and ride my fortuitous metabolism for all that it's worth, that I need to carve out dedicated and focussed time for my health and fitness. We'll see how we go.

God damn you're young. 33 is the year you start to break. Older than Jesus.
