It's me again.
I think that we eat much more than we really need. That's 90% of the problem.
When we have nothing else to do, we just eat. We open the fridge...

In the fitness topic, I haven't been to a gym since June (around 3 months) and I've been eating a little more than usual since my wedding (about 2 months) and it's beginning to show, so as well as kicking all* of the nuisance items out of my diet, I've googled bodyweight workout plans, as I'm trying to save money, so don't want to join a gym and stumbled on (
http://thehybridathlete.com/bodyweight-training-plan/) THIS. I've just finished day 2 and it's fairly taxing, which is good. Will comment again when I'm half way through, but I like the idea of not using weights for a bit and I'm more interesting in looking lean than hench, so hopefully this'll be a nice start.

Maybe cut the sit-ups out of that, since sit-ups are terrible for you.

A brief bit of googling concurs. Will swap in something else for abs.

So for the last thirty years or so I thought i was doing myself a favor by staying fit with things like running, swimming, cycling(a lot), hiking, rafting, kayaking and sex. I go to the doctor for a physical that I have not had in years and the good news is that my labs came back looking great. The only problem was when the doc took my blood pressure and it was 160/102. Apparently that is bad. I then had a ECG test and that looked bad. So other than being fit, healthy, and only a few pounds overweight (subjective opinion) I'm not healthy. During the ultrasound of my heart, I had a few days later, the tech doing the work asked if I had been athletic in my youth. I said yes. She then pointed out that the walls of my heart are thicker than they should be and that is sometimes a result from years of athletic performance starting at a young age. Could also be just a genetic mutation. How lucky can a guy get? I think that I'll take up smoking, drugs and alcohol because nothing will prevent random shit from happening to you and so you might as well just enjoy all the bacon and cigarettes you want....

Finally got back into it this week after about a week and a half off due to the combined effects of a wrist injury(hyper-extended while working a punching bag), and intestinal distress(A whole WEEK of constant diarrhea after eating at a mexican food truck).
Good times. I might have overdid it though, as my right leg was cramping up like crazy and I couldn't stand up without using my arms to help.

I have given up lager in favour of red wine.

I had a few "processed" meals yesterday, one vegetarian cheese patty-thingy dish in the uni canteen and later a grilled cheese baguette from the train station. Maybe I've become what a friend called a "bio sissy" (since organic food is labelled "bio" in Germany) but these two things made me feel bloated until evening in my fencing class. But there could be worse things I guess than being disgusted by unhealthy food.

That's actually normal when switching to a low-meat, organic diet....though being German your food is of a much higher baseline quality than what you find in America. Your average American supermarket food is over-processed, nutrient devoid, cheap crap where every corner that they could cut to lower costs was.
