Depends. Have you ever played any of the X games? You generally either love or hate them.
Why yes I have, the half-pipe is particularly fun. :thumb:

Walked into that one, I suppose.

Yeah I thought X3: Reunion was pretty good.
It's kind of like Minecraft in space come to think of it.

I was just about to install FS2 on my computer, but it seems the installer doesn't like my machine or Windows 7 (64-bit) or something. I double-click on the installer - nothing. I try to run it in XP compatibility mode - nothing. Any tips? I've found people with the same problem but no solutions...

I know a lot of software doesn't work unless you right click run as administrator. Also, the installer is Java-based, do you have an up-to-date JRE installed on your machine?

I tried the admin thing, but it didn't work. Will check out my JRE installation, though. Cheers.

Erm... No? Haven't read about this before. I guess it's a replacement installer for the one on the game CD?

The entire X series follows a very similar pattern. They're all fairly unimpressive space flight sims, tied to very in depth economy sims. Like if someone wanted to make Space Tycoon, but had to attach it to Tie Fighter to get it made.
It's main problem is that it's depth is on the economics side, but the interface is designed for a space sim. You're basically trying to run Microsoft from the cockpit of a Cessna.
Terran Conflict is less newbie friendly then reunion - which is saying something, since both basically have a learning cliff. But Terran Conflict gave the Xenon PBEs, which will basically rip anything light to shreds, making the already dangerous Xenon sectors suicidal.

Ah, okay, we're on totally different pages here. If you're going to reinstall FS2, I highly recommend using FSOpen (the file I linked to). It downloads not only the game, but also graphics updates and addons that turn it into something current-gen.
The game's default installer is a very standard InstallShield client from the late 90s, something's up if it doesn't work. You may need to use Win98 compatibility, it is an old game.
Edit: Just remembered that due to a copyright thing, FSOpen doesn't include the core game files anymore, so you'll need to install from CD anyways. Sorry about that.
