yeah they are about opinions...and over in comm chat many threads get more negative responses than positive, and my theory is untrue...But talking of threads about fm's here or in the editor's guild, i think my point stands..which just to clarify again is basically: those with a positive experience of a mission are more likely to post than those with a negative experience of said mission...i'm just trying to say that we should expect this bias..
Perhaps it would be better to say that those with strong opinions either way will respond..those with more lukewarm feelings are less likely to post at length about the reservations they have about a particular mission
anyway, on topic for a change ( ) Inverted Manse seems to be a love/hate mission..

ramirez, you shouldn't worry about expressing your own opinion. As long as it is done in a polite way, you won't be stepping on anyone's toes. We all have our favourite missions and ones that we didn't like and there's no harm in saying so.
As zacharias said, most people either seem to love this mission or really dislike it. The same thing happened with Calendra's Cistern and I'm sure will happen again.

I'll have to try it on another difficulty to see I'm sure, but right now, after playing it all on CutPurse, I didn't feel like it was Gold material, not quite. I would give it a 9 I think. The new arrows and weapons were nice and cool, and thank the Builder for a holy sword to kill all the zombies with! Battling the Haunts was tough sometimes, but I managed alright. The architecture was good, but not splendid. I saw too many "that wouldn't really be like that" spots to suspend disbelief. But there were some truly excellent freaky spots:

Spoiler:
The guy stuck to the ceiling rafter with three swords/daggers actually made me scared for a few seconds!

Spoiler:
Also, some of the sounds of past battles and stuff were freaky. Oh yeah, the Trickster laughing as I nabbed the book was a bit unsettling!

So, bottom line for me right now...
Inverted Manse - truly excellent mission well worth everyone playing, but not quite Gold in my book (like I said, I'll play on another setting another time for a more fair view of it, and maybe I'll like it more...)
The Seventh Crystal - liked it more than IM (and DarkWarrior, you do KEY HUNT in Inverted Manse also!!!)
Calendra's Cistern - Now still my favorite mission!!!

I find that
Spoiler:
guy sticking from the ceiling

to be quite interesting - he's been there for god knows how long, and he's still bleeding. Strikes odd to me.

I got the crap scared out of me when I

Spoiler:
when I opened that door where the kid zombie was. Little Timmy?

I almost fell over in shock. There were other places, too, but overall I liked the dread and morbid atmosphere more in Inverted Manse than any other I've played. But, there are still quite a few that I haven't played that are supposed to be really scary too, so I'll see.
9.75 Hammers is my vote! Best one so far.

KoMaG, play it on warrior, it's worth it

I haven't played many FM's yet, so I'm not qualified to say much, but Inverted Manse is incredible! I finished it for the second time a few days ago, and it still lingers in my mind. Definitely gonna play it a third time on Warrior! Partly because

Spoiler:
I want to find those additional weapons outlined in that readme file (acid mines? something like that?

Strangely enough, the scariest moment for me was when

Spoiler:
I had made my way to the top of the stairs by the factory entrance. I was sneaking along toward the haunt around the corner, with my face towards the wall, when suddenly I heard footsteps behind me! I was terrified--I thought it was an enemy that had materialized out of nowhere, and I hit the Escape button in a panic. Then I realized it was one of the ghosts who appeared to replay what had happened in the factory!

To each opinion his/her own. I wasn't convinced myself until I realized how Sledge built three very different missions all in one -- complete with three different starting locations. Besides all the extras and incredible attention to detail, the player is really only 1/3 done having been through once. It got a gold because of how it equals or beats the originals in every category that matters. Yet in defense of those who are not quite so excited -- I can see how this mission might not be everyone's cup of tea, especially if undead aren't your thing.

indeed, the "three in one" thing might make it higher to me after playing again on another setting

I must have missed something....don't get me wrong, it's my favorite FM so far....I've played it the most of all, with Raid On Washout Central 2nd, and Calendra's 3rd. (Note: CC beats ROWC as far as missions go, but I've played Raid so many times trying to figure out how all the rain was done... )
Back to "I must have missed something....": I thought it was pretty much the same FM on the 3 difficulties..... Just a little rearrangement of goals and placement of things, but overall the same basic FM.
