Can anyone point me to threads or links relating to the wonderful, wonderful "Inverted Manse" FM? After two nights of awed exploration, I'm feeling a bit stuck. It's truly better and more beautiful than a few of the original Thief/Thief 2 missions. But...I'm starting to feel I'm running around in circles. I haven't yet seized the stone that's lethal to the touch; I figure (perhaps wrongly) that I need something from somewhere else in the level, and I'm uncertain whether I need to baptize the stone or myself in woodsie magic. Or something. So if that's the reason I can't progress, then a simple hint on this thread would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

All you need is a hint. You're well on your way to being finished.
In one of the rooms down close to that area, you should have picked up an "empty bottle". If you didn't, you need to go back and look for it. Then, you have to fill it at the little "unholy water" fountain outside the Library. Use that to douse the stone and you'll be able to pick it up.
I have two questions about this mission ...
1) In the "Rogue" version, what's the deal with that floating lightball? - the one in the church by the two unlit torches. I assume it's a puzzle but I can't figure it out. Does it open the gates blocking you from the top levels?
2) What's inverted about this mission? I expected something like that inverted chapel in System Shock 2.
Thanks in advance.

I played this recently, and believe I played the "Rogue" setting, and that bit stumped me. Until you solve it, the doors won't open. It's a bit of a puzzle, involving something in your inventory and something you encounter in another part of the level. Then you get a Hexen-like, very un-Thiefy, "Somewhere a door has opened" type message.
I also expected a Miss Pigglewiggle style upside down cathedral, but I think the inversion is all in the location (i.e., under everything).
Btw, do yourself a favor and, after finishing on Rogue, re-start the mission at the other two difficulty levels in order to see some very cool areas you might not stumble across otherwise.
This was a great great FM.

I don't know that the floating thing does anything in Rogue (although I don't know for sure). It's not essential whatever it is, 'cause I passed it without that
I don't think you can get upstairs in that mode either.
The name is like Anti-Christ; an Inverted Manse being the evil version of a Manse.

I'm back. Any hints regarding the location of the item that needs to be combined with an inventory item? - the one that prompts the 'somewhere a door has opened" type message? I'm goin' nuts trying to find the missing piece to this puzzle. Thanks.

Spoiler:
Somewhere along the way you pick up an empty vessel. Then you need to find the fountain.
This took me a while.

Thanks for your assistance, Lamprey. It helped me gain access to the book of spells, but unfortunately, it had no effect on opening those upper-floor church gates. That's the one that's drivin' me nuts. Any other tips? Thanks again.

Couple of Posers - In Inverted Manse - IN warrior mode (expert) where the dickens are the clues for the XXXXing safe?
Secondly, if you are fresh out of ammo in all areas bar sword, how the repeat previous expletive deleted do you kill the man riding the burrick and the invisible (nearly) guardian
