My experience is: it's NOT a bug.
I just kept hitting my sword on this invisible creature and at last: she went: POOF!!!!! and was gone.

any idea what sort of error this would be?
in the inverted manse, in cutpurse mode, I used a mine to knock off the black haunts, and when it went off, the blood splatter in the room to the right jumped up off the ground, started flapping like a butterfly and moved upwards to the far corner of the room. I redid this, and it did it again.
Think of the blood stains as solid objects with a tiny sphere in the middle which is the only truly 'physical' representation of the bloodstain, which isn't normally bumped into but is easily to affect through an explosion.
Or a moving door.

I'm braving the depths again... Played this FM a few years back on Warrior and never finished it due to being weak of heart. Now I'm braver (not to mention better armed) and I'm battling it out again. Cutpurse I could manage, but I'm stuck on Rogue - can't enter the Manse! The rubble gateway where you enter in the other two settings is blocked by an invisible barrier. The objectives mention tunnels between the basement and the manse - anybody got a clue where I can find them?
The wackiest bit is that I can hear haunt noise in and around the basement level of the elevator in spite of having killed everything I could find... Freaky.

I dug in again for you, but it's to complicated to come to that point in a few minutes, so my advice would be: check the "search the forum" buttom and you'll probably find all the answers you need!
Great FM BTW.

I did check the forums but to no avail. I'm beginning to think that I've encountered some sort of bug. I can find nupthing on an invisible barrier between basement and manse - the closest thing I could find was this, from a post by Sledge which seems to indicate that it is a bug:

If you think Warrior was a bit linear (which it is near the beginning and end) I might recommend checking out one of the other "difficulty" levels, which are a bit more open. Still, the mission was never intended to be an open ended exploration (there is one way into the manse) because it just wouldn't be appropriate for the style of mission that it is. I think there's enough places to get lost if you're an ambitious explorer and go everywhere though.
I hope I'm wrong, but it smells like a reload here...:(
And oh, yeah....gameplaywise, this is one of the best, no doubt.

I checked but Rogue is the only setting I don't have any saves on. I don't recall anything being blocked by an invisible barrier, though. I'm playing through and if I can stay at it long enough to get to that part, I'll let you know what I find. :)

I got into the tunnels the same way I did on the other difficulty settings. Are you sure you're in the right place? You go through the room with the broken walkway, out the door in the SW corner and walk straight ahead (W) through a wooden edged doorway. Continue west along the hallway, through the door at the end. (This is the one that was locked on Cutpurse and you had to pick up the key in the Church.) Walk down the stairs, east through a door and down a couple more stairs. You'll be in a hallway that looks more like it belongs in a church than in a factory. There's a statue, pillars and red carpeted walkways off to the left and right. Take either one, go around to the back and through a doorway into another hallway. The doorway to the right is gated but to the left you'll see two Hammer ghosts appear by a hole in the wall. They'll talk and disappear. Go through the hole they were standing by and you'll have entered the tunnel system. Make your way through the tunnels into a large clearing patrolled by a BIG spider. The Manse entrance is at the far side.

Yup, I'm sure I got it.

hole in the wall is the entrance to the Manse in this and the other difficulty settings as well, I believe. But it is blocked by what is seemingly an invisible barrier. Can't even put an arrow through it. I suppose this is a bug and that a reload is necessary.:(
I'll send the save file to anyone who doesn't believe me.
EDIT: I'm replaying the difficulty now to see if it happens again. Hope not! Thank you, Nightwalker and Gloria creep, for having the dedication to actually play through the level to check it for me. I made an incredibly funny screenshot of a bunch of arrows stuck in the air in the broken wall, but it turned out too dark to post. He he he...

Replayed the level to the same point and voila! I'm through. No invisible wall this time. Odd bug, though.
Nightwalker on 1/2/2006 at 20:25
Very, very strange bug indeed but I'm glad you got past it the second time through.
