I've been playing the excellent apache mission pack on normal level and have come a bit unstuck in the keep.
Firstly does anyone know where Ramirez's secret is?
Secondly how do I get into the keep itself? I seem to have opened every possible door in the town. There is an area in the sewers which looks like a secret door, under the ladder to the inn, but that could be shadow.
Any help would be greatly apreciated as I've found myself running through the town, desperately seeking anything I've missed and findding nothing (although I've quite obviously missed something!!! )

The Keep is an excellent mission. The secret you need to find is in Ramirez's bedroom, in the safe, if I recall properly. The entrance that allows you to get to the Keep area is in there, as well. His bedroom is the room that requires you to get two keys to enter it. If you're still stuck after you look around again in there, post back and I'll give you exact details.

Nightwalker, as always thank you. :thumb: Where would we be without you?
That said, I can't believe I missed the button (to the safe!!!!), I must have looked through the room half a dozen times.
I totally agree excellent mission, made all the better by playing it as part of the mission pack. I even enjoyed Hunt for Monrose, and I am not the biggest fan of undead missions.

The entrance to the keep stumped me too the first time I played. I even opened the safe, but I totally missed the button that opened the secret entrance to the keep. I searched the whole city for a couple hours and finally gave up. A few weeks later I lost all of my darkloader savegames after re-installing Thief so I replayed the entire mission and couldn't believe I missed it before.
BTW, down in the sewers is a funny secret. You need to find the hole in the wall and use a powder keg and fire arrow to blow a hole in the wall to get in. At least that's how I got in.

Brian, I found that area, but I used the detonator from Ramirez's store room.
Once in the safe I was fine, it was just a case of absolute blindness, which made me miss the safe button (do'h).

I actually just came back and finished that mission myself.. I quit playing it for months because I overlooked the safe down in the entrance to the keep that has the key to the gate..heh I spent countless hours wandering around the town wondering how to open the gates... I'm glad I'm not the only one who's done something like that..heh Actually, I'm one of those people who figures out the hard puzzles but usually misses the bright red button right in front of his face.. Go figure...
Now that I've finished it, I have to agree that it's a great mission.. Great campaign, actually.. My favorite of the series was The Hunt for Montrose (as I'm sure I've made completely clear from previous posts, I have a certain affinity for undead missions heh)

I remember have two other problems with that mission:
1. At the very end of the walkway down to the keep, there's a ladder that goes halfway down the inside of the post, then you're supposed to jump to a ladder on the other side and go the rest of the way down. For whatever reason, I couldn't jump across from ladder to ladder. I would always fall straight down and die. I ended up skipping the first ladder and just carefully jumping from the very top onto the second ladder.
2. I don't remember exactly what it was, but there was something in the very center at the bottom of the keep that held a skull that you need to get out. I think I shot a fire arrow at it to make it move, but then I had a heck of a time grabbing the skull out of the hole beneath it. I finally got it after several minutes of trying, but I wonder if I did something wrong.

I've always had the same problem with that ladder. It can be done, but it is very difficult and I usually die a number of times before I manage to make the jump to the opposite ladder.
You're not supposed to destroy the centre pedestal with a fire arrow, so that probably caused your problems there. You're supposed to take the gem that you have and put it on the pedestal, then when the "creature" walks over to it, he is destroyed, along with the pedestal and then you can retrieve the skull. It's a bit buggy, unfortunately, and at times, I've had it work properly immediately, sometimes it has taken me quite a while to get the proper sequence to work and at other times, it wouldn't work at all for me.

Hmmm, it's been awhile, but as I recall, I tried everything to get that pedestal to give up the skull. I ended up killing the creature with a couple of fire arrows, then I blasted the pedestal with a fire arrow to get the skull. I figured something was wrong when it took me so long to grab that skull. Oh well.
