Interesting news has surfaced, Metal Gear Solid: Rising was cancelled by Kojima because development was stagnating and had no clear direction (he was hands off with that project and let the team do their own thing). This game, MGR:R, is a re-imagining of the Rising concept by a 3rd party developer.

As regards Revengence - someone explain to me how this is related to Metal Gear Solid: Rising. Just put numbers on things ffs.
Agreed that the subtitle is nonsensical, but this game is a SPIN-OFF, rather than a sequel.

Spin-off or no, it's not just nonsensical, it's stupid. I can handle nonsensical from Jappo games. This just speaks of internet posts from September 12, 2001.

Thanks for that link. How interesting.

What HD remakes? There's only a compilation of enhanced ports floating around.
I guess its just semantics, every source I've encountered including PSN media refer to them as HD remakes, along with the God of War remakes and a few others. A port kind of implies merely platform change, sometimes including minor enhancements, but w/e, potato tomato.

ePSXe + 360 controller. If you want to get a legit copy of course. Lately I've been turning my PS1/2 discs into ISOs and playing them on emulators. They look way better that way with the added AA and texture smoothing than on an HDTV.

Not to mention MGS is sold on PSN and if you're determined, you can find a copy of Twin Snakes for Gamecube.
pretty much this:

Yes, but who'd be determined enough to find a Gamecube to go along with?
Not me, no sirree.
As much as I love the game, emulating it is just not for me. twin Snakes, maybe, GC games look a bit weird when played on a Wii for some reason.

And it's a very good thing to hype on.

Isn't it kind of late to jump on Modern Warfare bandwagon?

The sword-slicing mechanic feels like some sort of mixture of Tiny & Big's laser-slicing and Die By The Sword's directional sword-slashes. It's fun to mess around and cut down trees and slice cars to ribbons when there's no enemies around, but when you're in the thick of the action and under fire from 3 different guys at once it's hard to use the thing with any precision or grace. Feels like it would work a lot better if controlled with a mouse, but sadly it doesn't seem like this game's coming to PC. I'm sure you can come to grips with the combat system on a gamepad as well but it's defenitely the kind of thing you need to sink some time into and get good at to really start enjoying.
Besides that the presentation is slick, but the story didn't really grab me. Stealth is possible in many places, but you need to walk up behind enemies to stealth kill them and the walking speed is sooooo sloooow you'll likely prefer to just run up and flying kick enemies in the face instead.

Played it. Stealth is definitely not given priority, it's all about wading in and mixing it up in that shiz with your big-ass sword and super-slicey-dicey action. This IS a Platinum game first and foremost, and a Kojima Prod. game second, so expect heavily involved combat to be the focus. The story didn't hook me with any, uh, compelling plot development, but it's the stuff of hammy legend already, so that's a point in its favour. A less than serious MG game would be very welcome right now.
Aside from that, the gameplay is generally polished like anything Platinum has done, but parrying seems pretty hard - for me, at least, with split-second timing required. Also, entering blade mode causes the camera to swivel right down at Raiden's feet for some reason - or somewhere equally unhelpful - instead of remaining in place, which pissed me off some, though for all I know it might have been my fault.
