If someone comes in and claim the sun is blue and cold, what are you supposed to do? Make a long winded speech explaining how and why they're wrong, or call them a fucking idiot? Sometimes, it just ain't worth the effort, and your only other option is to go all ad hominem and say "you're a fucking idiot"
Not that I'm saying you're a fucking idiot, you fucking idiot. I'm just saying you're wrong, and you don't really have an argument.
Also, braid might've been a little pretentious (read a whole bunch pretentious), but there was a solid, entertaining game underneath it all. And VVVVVV was just flat out awesome top to bottom.

What an utterly obtuse analogy. The sun not being "blue and cold" is an indisputable fact, you're either wrong or right. Opinions on games are entirely subjective, there are no wrongs nor rights (unless you haven't played the game, then you can't hold a valid opinion on it).

I typed that entire conversation out on my iPad while listening to Mega Man Dubstep. It took me two hours, but I did it. I guess that's the price I pay for using Hipster Technology.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! INSTAGRAM! I WEAR BIG SUNGLASSES NOW!

The argument is self-explanatory, the likes of faux-retro graphics and chiptunes music are the epitome of hipster irony.
THANK YOU. I finally understand what being a hipster is. This has puzzled me for a long time, but if it means enjoying games with retro graphics, enjoyable tunes and challenging gameplay then I'm all for it. I'll be the hippest hipster that ever had a hip operation.
VVVVVV, Braid and World of Goo all shared a common trait - experimenting with a core mechanic in different environments. For VVVVVV that involved putting the lead character in worlds that forced bouncing, moving in one direction or required avoiding obstacles.
Braid played with about four or five different core mechanics all based on time manipulation - yes, overall it was pretentious, but it didn't stop me enjoying the game for what it was.
In other news, I've ordered Grimrock too from the developers. Please let me know what music I'm supposed to like now I'm a fully fledged hopster (or whatever I'm meant to be)

Hey, I liked Braid. Never finished it though.

Wellp, here's for supporting the little guy, bought the game directly from the devs.
Not that I'll be playing it anytime soon though....heh.
