Cool, thanks! I guess I forgot to check for the armory. I made it down to docks and forgot. I guess I need to go back up to the armory? Is there anything really important in there that I'll need?
Nightshifter, did you make this mission? So far, it's one of the most enjoyable missions that I have played in a LONG time. Very well thought out and designed.
nightshifter on 22/3/2007 at 14:42
yep, I did ( with a lot of help) build this mission.
If you need to go back???
it is not realy a must to complete the mission. ( just some mines and arrows there)

delete the old fan-mission file from 'thief2' and re-download a new one but do not delete the fan-mission 'saves' in your thief2, 'saves' file. then, extract the mission into your 'missions' folder. so, when you 'restart' your mission in darkloader, you can play from your last save (darkloader will automatically use the mission's 'save' files from thief2). you should now be able to play the mission properly from where you left off. it worked for me and i hope it works for you:angel:.
What?
Never,
ever extract an FM manually.
Also, why would you re-download the FM once you have the custom scripts installed?
At worst you may need to restart the mission - there is absolutely no reason to delete and reinstall it. It will just work properly once Thief can find the scripts required.

nightshifter;
this is a brilliant mission! the puzzles are really challenging and the storyline is very original. i particularly love the ending (it's just like a good movie!). i hope that there is a sequel to 'the librarian', i will definitely play it.
well done:thumb: ,

nameless voice;
in reply to your criticism of my advice;

i never said anything about extracting a mission 'manually'. did you not read my post properly? when you have downloaded a mission, does it not go into a 'missions' file or any other file that you may choose to use? well, that is what i meant.

i am a regular on this forum and i have read many posts stating that they would rather not have to re-start a mission. i am saying that i have found a harmless and successful way around this problem. what is wrong with re-downloading a mission? you write as if if there is something wrong with this.

yes there
is a reason to delete and re-install a mission, if it helps me or anyone else continue a mission without restarting it.

and i do realise that a thief 2 mission will work properly once the scripts are installed, i have been playing thief for years.
nameless voice, i might not know all the computer jargon or be a computer expert but i was merely giving some friendly advice and if you don't like it, then don't follow it. i wouldn't mind if your criticism was constructive but please do not write to me as if i am stupid.

I think Nameless Voice was a bit confused by the logic behind your advice and didn't mean anything personal by it. To be honest i am a bit too.
You say that if people have to restart a mission because of newly installed scripts they have to re-download the mission. This isn't necessary, it's not like the mission was changed in someway because you played it without scripts, and then once you install scripts you need another version of the mission.
Also when you said to "extract the mission into your 'missions' folder" that would easily be (mis)interpreted as extracting the files manually. I know that you meant to 'move' the mission zip rather then 'extract'. I am not patronising you or anything but if you use the word 'extract' when you meant 'move' people will take that to mean extract manually.
I am sure no one's saying you're stupid or anything but your advice didn't make any sense and Nameless Voice was trying to save you the hassle of re-downloading when it wasn't necessary. Afterall less hassle means more time to rob them blind! :ebil:

I have all the talisman pieces except for the fire talisman. I have made it to the lava pit and I have shot each symbol on the column with the appropriate arrows. Each symbol is deactivated and the fire on top has gone out... but how do I get the talisman of fire??

...do you have a higher quality version of that? I'd like to add that to my music list
haha!:joke: that's a good idea! lol:laff: :p
:erm: Nightshifter asked me to look for a higher quality copy, and I'm sorry to announce that, after he told me that he liked the song and would use it, I deleted the "working" files. So I don't have anything above the "thief quality" copy. It's a side effect of my audio editing procedures -- all WAVs get exported to "thief" quality to save time. If I hadn't been away for so long (I'm on 12-hour shifts again) maybe I'd have noticed the FM was released and people wanted an MP3 of the song, and I could have undeleted the files. But it's been too long and the files are gone now. Again, sorry. :(
I'm glad you enjoyed 'Garret the Jazz Singer.' It's Nightshifter's song and music, I just tried to sound like Garret. So while I'm apologizing, let me warn you that you'll hear me try to sound like Garret again in two upcoming FMs. :sly:

I'm confused. What happens after I put each symbol out with the arrows. I am completely stuck. Where exactly is the Talisman of Fire? Do I do something with the three talisman that I already have yet? Or, do I go back to the pyramid where the fire talisman was when the cage was raised to get it?
Also, I love that Garrett song in the intro. How did you manage to get Clint Eastwood to sing it for ya?
