I've had the same thing happen, but been able to blast the crates away with a fire arrow.
Game got real slow then
I sent the elevator up by itself.
Brought it back down
It got the fire tailsman to fall all the way down the elevator shaft
I went down, sent the elevator up so I could get the fire tailsman under it.
I cant pick it up
tried shooting it with a water arrow, nothing happened
I hit it with my sword, and I died.........
any suggestions?

I had to puzzle a bit to understand what happened here...
( and still I don't really understand how you came in that situation...)
point is: the talisman had to be doused first.. you have to do that by riding the rocklifts and shooting the symbols ( talismans) on the side of the cylinder with the right artrows ( you can find a clue about it )
only when all the arrows are shot right, the fire on the talisman will douse ( to be exact, the talisman is swapped for a talisman without fire ( and fire stim)and that one is the one you need and the one that will tick of the objective.... )
to reach the elevator you have to go into the crypt.but .... you can only acces the crypt after the talsman is doused... the crypt door will be locked until then

I hope someone can help me. I'm at the "spear place", and I have all four of the talismans. I saw some posts saying the combinations was 1. water, 2. fire, 3. air and 4. earth. I am "using" the talismans at the numbers, and they fall down. After I used all four talismans, atill no door opens. What I have done wrong?

I seem to be having a problem no one else did. While I've located the 3-level elevator above which sits the actual fire talisman, and found that if I shoot a water arrow at it, I can take the elevator up without getting crushed, but I still can't get the talisman.
For one thing, it's on fire. For another, it's floating at the ceiling, out of reach. I figure this means I still need to do something else.
When at the mid-level of the elevator, I can look down and see that I'm on a column surrounded by lava, with 4 "spokes" lit up in different colors. There's also a pair of floating platforms (or maybe I'm just seeing the same one twice), which periodically visit a set of double doors. Obviously, there's something I need to do down there. But I can't for the life of me figure out HOW to get down there! I just CANNOT find those stupid doors!
Any hints? Please don't spoil it outright - just a nudge in the right direction would suffice.
This is a kickass mission. I really didn't expect it to be so huge.

from your post I understand that you have been on the elevator but not into the room with the floating rocklifts???
ehh.. how did you get there.:confused::confused:
as far as I know ( and as I intended it ;) ) you won't be able to access that lift before you have been into that rocklift room. and do a task there....
from your post I understand you did find the fake talisman
from there where did you go???
I hope you did fall down there...:cheeky: cause that's the way to go...

Er...that's odd.
Indeed, as you intended, I fell through the floor when trying to grab the fake talisman. I found myself in a sort of crypt-type area, with a lot of sarcophagi, and a few Hammerite haunts, which I disposed of easily with mines & swordplay.
I found the Skull of St Vitus, which I used to get the Eye by going downstairs through the spiral staircase near the statue of the angel holding a gear. I also found a white, well-lit door at the end of an otherwise dark hallway in the crypt area. Through there was a medium-sized room, with a long, narrow hallway branching off to the right. The ceiling gets progressively lower, then I find myself at the bottom of the elevator under the true Fire Talisman.
So how was it supposed to work? I can't find any other passages or doors, and if I try to jump down onto the moving platforms, it's too far and I die.

StealThisNick, about the moving platforms: try to find THE right angle to jump. Find the right corner. Go as far back as you can and run + jump at the right time. With some training that'll work!

ok, this is what you are supposed to do..( what is supposed to happen..)
sorry I have to spoil it a bit..
when trying to grab the fake tallisman, you fall through, in a corridor and end up near a lava pit , across the lavapit is another corridor , when you go in there, you will find a spiral stairs down.
downstairs a corridor, to the left are the double doors with the rocklifts, but you will have to find the key first..
in the room with the rocklifts, you will have to do a task, and only after that task is done, the cryptdoors will open

I wandered around a bit more and found the door to the rock lifts. All the hallways in the crypt look so much alike, I guess I must have just run right past it previously.
Now, I'm in the basement, trying to get to the Spear. The talismans don't do anything. I put them in the numbered slots as given on page 3 of this thread, but nothing happens. Must be a bug. I only have 2 mines left, so I guess I will have to find some crates so I can climb over the wall.
