Based on various excerpts within the game, I also got the feeling a lot of people knew
of it but not necessarily
where it was or how to get to it.
Which, of course, is exactly what I said. Historians/archeologists know about the Precursors, and fabled Karath Din - but very, very few people know that it's under the City. The poster I was responding to suggested that the whereabouts of KD is fairly common knowledge, but that it was too dangerous to get to.

everything you've quoted there is correct and from this thread.
Wolfboy, you said you watched the breifing and parameters for "the Mission", and that mages didn't seem to fit the . Having played both TG and TDP, I'm able to comment on the flow of the game in both variations. Oh, and for the record, Thieves Guild, Song of the Caverns and Mages Towers are all pretty highly regarded missions, and HAVE recieved rave reviews on these forums.
So once again, Werewolfintheshadows (Wolfboy is so much shorter than that...), here it is in small words so that you can understand.
* You say that it seems that the location of KD is well-known, but too hard to get to. Game evidence doesn't support that - instead, it's known historically, but it's whereabouts are LOST.
* You say that the extra TG missions are bad and that not many like them. Yet what people are complaining about in this thread is an ORIGINAL mission that was altered, not one of the extras - which are most often praised.
Now, I have no doubt you'll find some way to miss the point, WWITS. But for some reason I wanted to let you know you were talking about a completely different mission (ie, Mage Towers vs. Lost City) so that we could go back to discussing it.

I disagree. Neither the Thieves guild or the mage towers have received rave reviews and thief gold has been described as "not worth getting your credit card out for". I justified this on a thread which contrasts thief Dp and Thief Gold. So Solly i think you are missing my point entirely, but don't look at my posts, by all means read other peoples.....
From all the evidence seen with TDP and the subsequent games, I am suggesting the Lost city's whereabouts are known to quite a few people, access was restricted to it by the keepers, but there is quite strong evidence to support the keepers didn't control ALL access to it. I also made the point that the Sunken Citadel and the Lost city are likely very different places, I hope you picked up on at least that point.

I just should have learned my lesson from past encounters - this one's only interested in pushing buttons.

FOGHORN - you quote everything i say relentlessly
FOGHORN - you try to twist the words i write to your own agenda which is quite simply to disrupt the thread. I'm not interested in your opinion of me solabusca, my opinion of you isn't a pretty picture, so who really cares? Just make a point about the thread instead of hurling abuse across the forums.

You should be happy that we are able to communicate with people from different parallel universes. Internet is such a amazing thing. :D

Let's just get back to discussing the thread

mg110600: "Librarian, hold! I'm glad our paths have crossed this day."
mg210601: "Oh! Why is that, Aroun?"
mg110602: "Those of the Inner Circle have charged me with a minor mission: find our your progress in the library."
mg210603: "Have they no breath in their lungs to ask me themselves?!"
mg110604: "Breath enough for a score of mages, as you surely know, but they are consumed of late with other matters."
mg210605: "Then report that Verlin the Librarian has progressed excellently with the project in the secret study. Tell them also that Verlin has most-skillfully filed the Ritual of Opening in its proper location. Tell them that Verlin did masterfully tidy away many books, and that they need think of it no more."
mg110606: "I am impressed! You have done all this today?"
mg210607: "Well, today or tomorrow."
My OPINION: A lot of effort was put into the creation of this conversation. It's relatively lengthy, it was carefully written, the voice-actors had to do their part, DromEd'ers had to work it in, and it could tie into the changes that were made to the Lost City mission. It MAY answer the question of how the mages got down there. It IS vague enough to mean many things, although I feel it was a deliberate hint for the appearance of mages in the Lost City.
What I cannot find for myself to support this notion: Is the Librarian Verlin an earth or fire mage? How about the messenger?
Thanks, deadman, for your transcriptions!

@jtr7
looks interesting, but is a tad too vague for my liking. But given that the only other project the mages work on is the lost city, it appears possible that they were talking about it. Then again they might just talk some mubo jumbo about some other crazy ritual.
@solabusca
I always thought that the Mechanists used the Submarine to get to Karath'Din only so that noone in the City would get suspicious, or try to barge in on their business.
