To the extent anyone new or doesn't post a lot got ridiculed and told to post less.
That's not why people get ridiculed. Hell, look at Koki, he posts all the time and still gets ridiculed mercilessly. For good reason, mind you.

It took me a moment to realise that this actually reads "shith-reds".
Anyway if you idiots don't have any ideas we'll just to whatever the hell we like.

It spurs conversation if nothing else, since people seemed to complain there wasn't enough action around here. Oh and shut your shaft hole, we know you already hate 99.9% of the threads, once in a blue moon it would be so nice to not read your shit posts, its the same thing from you, time and time again. Gets old.

Dear BA,
While Koki's post can sometimes cause spontaneous outbreaks of herpes, he's still part of the charm that keeps us all coming back to TTLG. Are post like his ridiculous? Yes. Venomous? Yes. Integral? Most definitely, for they give us the blatant honesty of a fuck-face. And I thank God that everyday there are still blatantly honest fuck-faces out there, otherwise the Internet would become nothing more than a swap meet for Cat LOLs.
So please, in your new position as a moderator, try to maintain a bit of restraint in chastising another long-time member. On the other hand, you can chastise the likes of me all you want (since I'm still a "noob" by pre-TDS era standards... and I like that sort of thing). I know the excitement for the job is there, it's new and has that fresh feel and smell of laundered cashmere -- and you want to do a good job. But part of doing a good job is maintaining a position of emotional separation. Whether you like another member or not (or what they post) should never play into how you conduct business.
My only advice to all the new ubermoderators is: relax. We know you're there, we know you're trying to make TTLG a better place without much useful input (you actually thought anything any of us would say would be useful?). But avoid being heavy-handed in your presence. It's like splitting this discussion off from GBM's original thread. There was no need, really. Part of this place's charm is that we often have discussions "wander" off into something else--it's like having a "real conversation" at a party. The discussions here have a free-wheeling, spirited flare about them; and this free-spiritedness is what sets TTLG apart from all the other forums out there. Well, that, and proper grammar. So let things simmer a bit before reacting. Ultimately, it's the members who shape the forum, for it's their participation that keeps it alive.

Who will ubermoderate the ubermoderators?!
BrokenArts on 22/5/2012 at 15:01
Dearest Queue, please don't tell us how to moderate. It's already been stated that a *mild* crack down will be enforced, and not just by me. You must of not gotten the memo. His *excessiveness* is a bit much at times. That is all, thank you very much.

How has this free-wheeling spirit and relaxed moderation served us lately? Oh yeah,
it hasn't.Four years ago I would have agreed with you completely but it turns out that the balance that makes for a thriving forum is a bit more delicate than we suspected. The grand experimentation that was Comm Chat has utterly bottomed out, as new blood has stopped trickling in and the old guard has grown tired of posting. We're in the middle of a bit of a renaissance, true, but without using this momentum to shape things positively conversation will inevitably dry up again.
The merit of spinning out this thread into its own entity might not make sense to you, but I'm actually relieved to
finally see something being done around here. We may just be rehashing the same old TTLG-is-dying debates but at least the people in charge now seem willing to do something with the feedback.*
So yeah, we need to keep the threads of TTLG loose and freewheeling.
As long as they don't create a cumulative mess and siphon off interest in other threads (i.e. megathreads). And yeah, we need to make sure there is a place around here for barbed humor and tough love.
As long as people aren't just threadshitting and creating a negative atmosphere that discourages posting. It's a sliding scale, but for a long time now TTLG has had the leniency of an abandoned house and the results weren't good.
* I want to make clear that I'm not casting aspersions on the Comm Chat moderators and admins of yore here. There are a lot of reasons why positive change might not have happened in the past, not all of which may have had anything to do with visible names attached to this forum.

This is CommChat - it's likely that there might be a bit of facetiousness mingled in there with my words.
If we make a hash of things MsLedd will be sure to give us a good spanking.
