I'd guess that feedback about what you personally are looking for in comm chat moderation is probably welcome, but that's a far cry from telling someone else how to do their job (and openly criticizing their recent actions).

I think maybe you may have missed the point I was trying to make, I probably didn't word it clearly.
The problem probably has to do with a noob or someone who doesn't or hasn't hung out here a lot being told to post less or as you say being ridiculed, to someone who knows everyone..will take it as a joke( oh yeah that's so and so he's just joking) but someone who is unfamiliar with who everyone is may take it the wrong way?
I'm going to make a foray into Moderation, not to tell anyone here how to moderate, far be it for me to tell you how to do your job. But as a relative outsider here I have noticed there are far too many times threads got completely out of control. Now I don't pretend to know if the mods were sending pm's or whatever to some of the offenders or not. But what I do know is there were far too many instances of individuals being ass-hats and allowed to get away with it. Now I know the idea was to be a little more free on this forum than a lot of other places..but to a newcomer.. it just looks like a flame-fest that nobody was moderating at all. Sorry if I've offended anyone, its not my intention at all. Just stating things as I see them.
Kinda looked to me like some of the mods were trying to be friends with everyone. Typically, to be an effective moderator you can't be friends with everyone and do your job effectively. Not when corralling idiots and ego's on the internet.
I hear that things are going to be changing regarding moderation here.. I'm hopeful its for the better.
Feel free to ridicule me and tell me to post less now. :)

Yes it was a flamefest that no one moderated and yes, some of the mods were too deep in it themselves to see what was going on. Everyone knows that by now and you're pretty much preaching to the choir. But there's something new around the corner and(

Koki your negative behavior is the very reason why we are changing things around here. Its not just me, that wants the change and is implementing change. If you didn't read anything in this thread about changes, that's your problem, and get some reading glasses. Quit your trolling and fanning the flames, and read this now. Continued negative behavior is bad for the forum, mmKay? You are so used to acting that way because you've gotten away with it for so long. Don't make our job too easy now.

However...
Perhaps a change of the moderation stance deserves a larger announcement than buried somewhere in the middle of this thread? At least, I assume that's where it is, because I didn't find it, either. Perhaps the first post of a thread titled with words like "announcement" and "changes" as opposed to somewhere in page I-don't-even-know of a thread with title words like "ideas", "future", and "mega megathread".

Honestly, you can solve a lot of problems by getting rid of a few problem children, like Koki, CCCToad, dethtoll, lost_soul, etc. Without them to constantly stir up shit there'd be fewer fights.

For one, I didn't say anything about *getting rid* of Koki, just tone it down. How hard is that to grasp, its not. Its a joy to have to enforce all this. It is what it is. Someone has to do it. We knew there would be opposition. You have any issues, and don't like how things are run, take it up with her.
There was no announcement, moderators were appointed, Mara is busy as hell with real life, and pops in when she can. She basically asked us, and to help where its needed, the staff wanted change.
