'Twould be better to say that sounds which remind of
Thief pop up in unexpected places. And I agree.
It was only this year that I first played The Dark Project. During Into The Maw Of Chaos those water crystals make a humming noise almost exactly like some of my favourite audio experiments with Cool Edit Pro from the beginning of this decade. I used to love contorting rough bass sounds with many layers of all sorts of effects until they took on a warm, futuristic and otherworldly, breathing quality.
It gave me flashbacks of all the fun I had playing with audio like that. :)
Any idea of which software Eric Brosius used for The Dark Project?

I just watched Shaun of the Dead which features quite a couple of TDP zombie moans, even in the DVD menu.

One zombie moan was from the ambient sounds like you can hear them in Cragscleft or the Bonehoard.
Looks like some AKAI sampler and one Access Virus. I'll have to ask the Child of Karras. :erg:
Edit: Just saw "Hot Fuzz" (same actors and director you know...) and one can hear, apart from some door sounds I guess, a potion drink sound effect when the protagonist sits in the hotel dining room and drinks a glass of wine.

I suppose you mean that blue machine on the desk. That's actually not a Virus (those are red or black), but a Roland JP8080. But you are right with the AKAI Sampler. I guess all the other 19" stuff is external effects and utilites like CD players, an amplifiert etc.
I can't identify the program he has on his desk. It that a screenshot from a video? If so, where can I find a full version of this?

Before Shaun Of The Dead came out, I remember Simon Pegg saying that there were tonnes of hidden little easter eggs for zombie fans in the film.
I can't tell what the running program is though. Never mind.
