Someone mentioned
firing a fire arrow at the secret door near the kitchen, but this is impossible unless we know to save a fire arrow until then.
:(

Thanks, I was either blind or too afraid of cameras. Three more questions:
- where is the treebeast area?
- what some of you mean by "2nd mission" ?
- how to pick two loots (in the catacombs - ceiling trap, in the ghost library-too heavy)?

I'm running around not finding anything except a few fire arrows and two pieces of silver. I feel like the little boy who opens a door and finds a room filled with manure, after about an hour the mother finds him down on his knees rummaging through the manure and she asks what he is doing. He calmly says "I know there must be a pony in here somewhere". Thats what I keep thinking because the first part was so good there must be something.
Anybody?

Where did the author go anyway ? I hope he's not too put off by our critiques , this was a great first attempt . It would be nice to finish the beast off .

He's busy making his 2nd FM.

It would be nice to hear from him . At this point I simply want to see the mission complete screen .

This was a pretty fun mission. I had read all the comments here before playing it and I feared the worst but I really really enjoyed it. It was very challenging without being impossible. I have to admit I learned a couple of tricks and secrets here first--I might have had a different, more frustrating experience if I hadn't I suppose.
Yeah, the no-warning instant death traps were annoying but there were only a couple so it wasn't too bad.
I liked all the marble floors, very challenging, plus they came with a feeling of smug accomplishment whenever I navigated an especially dicey challenge. I think one, single moss arrow would have been nice ... something to hoard and use with care. Maybe show it prominently in a planter box someplace surrounded with marble floors and patrolling guards. A prize to see from a distance and covet hungrily.
The sawblade weapon was amazing. I loved it! I hope we see it again in another FM!! The sword was a blast too. I feel like making my own little mission using the same .gam and darkhooks file, putting in lots of enemies, the sword, then going to town. A super weapon can destroy the challenge of a mission, but provided near the very end, with lots of pesky enemies to mow down ... that's sweet, and a bloody delicious reward for any tenacious thief. I used the sawblade to take out Christine III. I can't imagine how I might have done it otherwise!
For purposes of full disclosure, here are the things I learned in this forum which helped me with the mission, and which very likely would have stymied me had I not known about them before hand:
- The book switches to get into the catacombs
- That the code to the cameras had to do with square roots (I might have gotten that one eventually)
- That you can climb the tree to escape the patrolling bots when the mission starts (what a beginning! Yikes!)
- That a fire arrow was required to open the entrance to the library
- That the key to the gambling room was in the sparring room
But everything else was a lot of patience a lot of creeping, and hiding in the shadows and conking guards as they came by or making a noise to attract them.
I played this mission over two evenings and I haven't had so much fun with an FM for quite awhile. I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.
One odd thing I noticed. As Darkloader was installing the mission I saw a brief bit of text that flashed by on the status bar that looked like a url. Is Darkloader or darkhooks connecting to the internet or something? Maybe for statistics tracking?

You say "was" a fun mission , did you finish the second part ?

I just heard from Gort and that isn't supposed to be in the zip file, its another fm he's working on.
