Can I get to the catacombs playing on normal? I've gotten rid of all the ghost in the ghost library, found the big iron door, but can't figure out how to get it open. Also, I haven't figured out how to get the big rock on the table. Can you give me a few clues? This is my second time to play game. First took six hrs.
This time two hrs and I'm done enough to exit game. Just would like to explore a little.
Thanxs,
Hope Vincent

To get into the control room in the main hall upstairs:
THeres a key in a BLUE room you have to grab - and run like HELL!
ITs located at the end of a library and to get in the library you have to go thru some glass doors at the main floor to the right coming up from the basement. Its at the end of the hall and it has an alarm that will make you look over your back
THis FM is really a pain in the arse and really HArd.
I have restarted it about 3 times.
Doors that won't open as I don't have enough keys and traps by them that after triggering still won't open them?
THose metal doors after the ride up through the elevator where the floors have cracks with wood in them are locked also-nothing opens them. THeres a bot who is like the energizer bunny running on rocket fuel :weird:
Even after i got the cameras off, I have been exploring and end up like some of you have posted here. I read of metal doors in the ghost library where the floating books are? I dont see any doors or switched there at all. :weird:
Catacombs?
I am stuck too....
THis FM is really mental
What to do?

It is a irritating mission but it is the challenge I love and a challenge it can be.

Okay,
After 5 hours of play i think i'll give this one a rest.
I found 10 secrets but only 8186 loot out of a possible 8886.
Shadows
Get back to the area where you killed Christine III. Stand in front of the statue in the SW corner (think that's the back left corner) and frob somewhere around the knees, this opens the secret door. I actually had to cheat and have a look in Dromed for this switch since there were no notes or clues anywhere that i found.
Lightningline
Head back to the main hall/foyer. The control room is behind the metal double doors at the top of the stairs. I think you need a blue key to unlock the doors. You need to head to the library without the ghosts and search for a room with an alter to find the key.

I never played on nomal so i don't know if you can get into the catacombs. Go to the stack of books the lady ghost is patrolling in the first room of the library. If you're facing the books, go to the books on the first stack on the left and look for 2 books high and to the left and frob them. I never found a way to get that chunk of gold sorry.
So I jumped over the fence and finished the mission, but at the start of the next mission I seem to have lost my lockpicks.
I found 2 chests, and KOed everyone, even the guard with the zelda sword, but I have no idea where to go.
wild_inferno9 on 16/8/2004 at 05:38

This is a very challenging mission (I'm playing on expert) Funny thing is, I actually found a way out without realizing it - because my other objectives were not completed the mission just didn't end. As soon as I got enough loot, the mission was over -- imgiane my surprise :cheeky: But I must be really stupid because I never found the catacombs even with the help from this forum!
I found the secret library with the ghosts etc. I killed all but two of them. I read the scroll, found the holy water. I read every piece of advice in the forum, but I still don't know what am I supposed to be looking for. Where's the door and where's the secret switch? There's supposed to be a frobbable book somewhere in one of the bookshelves near the lady ghost. Is this the lady ghost patrolling the bookstacks in the library with the flying books in it? (the library with a patrolling haunt and another one arguing with a male ghost?) Not the one on the balcony in the first hall? If it's the former, which bookcase should I be looking at?
And oh yeah, where's the door itself :p Need help really bad ...
dealasteal on 16/8/2004 at 07:15
Yep
Roz:
Its the one in the balcony of the first hall. right when you come in this area stay to the right side of wheres shes patrolling and go all the way down this side to the farthest wall. Now jump up in this corner and you will see frobbable books up HIGH in the book shelf. trust me its right there. I was blind as a bat to miss that one.
FYI also, you should be on the ground level directly underneath that balcony-not where shes actually patrolling at high above
Oh and for the Red force field where the loot is:
Major spoiler, don't read if you dont want the answer
You must have a gold cog key to open it.=)
I don't mind a challenge , however if there is going to be a trap there should be a reason for it or a hidden clue to it's existence . Not a bloody drop floor filled with zombies in the middle of the ground floor . Unopenable doors are fine also , just make them unfrobbable or leave a key than can be found after taking out the guards and reading the readables . I hate running around and around and finding nothing in the end . The forcefield button and crypt door go beyond a simple challenge , they are invisible and a clue should have been left as to their existance - they could have been anywheres . I'll go back and try the force field , and also try to open the cog and panel library door .
All in all I'm enjoying this mission , it could be right up there if not for these few things . The mansion ( especially the lowerlibrary ) and AI's were really well done . Trying to take out those guards with the marble floors then dumping them down the staircase was alot of fun .
