The imagination makes it easy to make a hodge-podge of elements that all work in seeming harmony, as if in a dream state, unaware of anything that's wrong until one wakes and thinks about it. Anyone whose grand idea for improving Thief by adding in what a hundred games already do is lacking creativity and unappreciative of Thief's strengths and purpose. :(

suppose there's a group of inventors that come up with this new technology and they sell these devices to the citywatch. however i'd be happy with older equiment in my inventory and the citywatch could have the new weaponry. however that could just be a story to go along with the the real story instead of having it be the main story like T2.:)

You can't reasonably have someone developing tech that makes Karras look like a dunce, without also making that person a major part of the plot. It's like writing:
"As I chased the small time bread thief, I overheard Sauron preparing his armies for world domination in the house next door. 'I just have to follow that up tomorrow', I thought, as I continued my chase."
