Three people (that I know of) who have looked into the motion file format are: Weyoun, Shadowspawn, Telliamed.
No idea if any of them are still around any more, but you could try asking them.

Shadowspawn is still around although has very little free time. But if you just want some information about the file format and other motion stuff, he may be able to help.
I have contacted all these three names at some stage. But yeah, I might do it again, if I get stuck in a blind corner.
I'm in touch with Olfred now and I'll try to import/export something using the BVH scripts that Telliamed made for Blender. My guess is the initial bone orientation is wrong.
Now, I just need to get the time to look at it. Real life has priority after all..

While we are talking about motion. We are oftenly talking about "biped-like" motion.
But is it a way to make us able to see and edit "spider-like" motions?
Or to make the wirst junction visible for "playerarms" motions?

Yes, it's possible to get all sorts of motions editable. Spiders and player arms too, if that's what you mean. Possibly even a rope, though I don't see too many people interested in that.

Cool! :D
That's exactely that I wanted to know! Thank you very much ^^
It may be very useful ;)

Haha nice - Want to see a Rope FM now xD

So, what do ropes do that we need a motion for that we don't already have?
Rope knotting and un-knotting motion for the sailors?
A coiling motion?
A snake charmer / magician rope motion where it uncoils and rises up for you to climb (actually that would be a pretty cool effect)

Just a quick update: I managed to fix the wrong rotation of the arms. It turned out to be a wrong order of joints that rotations were being applied to. Previously I have been following the order they are in the motion files (shoulders -> elbows -> wrists), but it has to be the opposite way, which kind of makes sense (children to parent). Not sure why leg joints are ordered correctly though.... Still it's a bit quirky the way joints rotate in the torso's they belong to coordinates system, rather than their local one or a system unified for entire character...
Anyway, I can now progress farther....

Nice to hear you managed to get through these tricksy magics, PinkDot! :)
Can we expect a release until Xmas?? :D
PinkDot on 4/11/2014 at 22:26
Thanks Toni. I can't promise that though - still a lot to do, and the time before Christmas can be busy in RL... Oh, I wish I had nothing else to do but coding tools for Thief! (or... :erm: maybe I don't wish exactly that... ;) )
SeriousToni on 10/11/2014 at 19:43
Hm I'm afraid I can't help you coding this :(
