The New VR. Gaming for the rich. - by SubJeff

You may be right, in terms of programming the Omni might be less of an issue. (It's mostly STEM that I think is a major challenge and not just a redefined thumbstick.) However, there are lots of other things that make me think it'll be more niche-y than the Rift, e.g. the space it takes up, the fact that few gamers will want to walk or run miles in games, early feedback that suggests it still needs a lot of work.

I agree with you. STEM, or something like it, could potentially add a great deal to VR, but there's no easy way to do it. It redefines your in-game avatar. That's not something you can just drop into existing code.

It's more niche-y almost by definition, 'cause who's going to use it without the goggles? Still, you can mark me down as one person who likes to run around in their games. Oh, sure, I could go play paintball or airsoft, but that's got its own issues, too.

The trouble with paintball is the graphical glitch where your fov is reduced and mists up.
